I have been here and reading for the past 3 weeks just seeing what people say and how it's going to go.. I am a military wife and the way i got started on this journey was different. My doctor recomended it for me.. She then told me to get it done i had to get the pych eval so i did that on my own. The army just does one meeting a week to see if you are eligible for the surgery and get all your measurements and that is tomorrow night. But they "fit" gastric surgery inbetween major surgeries. So we have no idea when our date it rebecca just calls two weeks in advance if we are lucky and lets us know our date and time. I guess just different. I am so nervous, my family isn't supportive of this idea and firmly believe that you can do it on your own if you motivated enough. It's very hard, so if anyone would like to chat please let me know. Could really use the support. And team motivation!

Wow it is really different in the military huh? I think if you are sure this is right for you, your family will come around later when they see it works for you.

My husband has watch me diet and diet for almost our whole 29 years of marriage. So he is supportive. He has been 145 lbs his whole entire adult life, eats everything all the time and never gains any weight.

I hope you get the surgery soon if that is what you want. I am 5 weeks post op and am very happy I did it, just wish I would have done it a long time ago.

it must be very hard that your family is not supporting you...I am lucky in a way because my family is.. well my Husband and my Sister are. I don't think my teen is.. she is not so keen on the idea. but she really has not said anything to me.. but what she and my other daughter don't know is I am doing this for them as well as me. I want to be healthy for so long I have always wanted to be healthy and happy.. I am not happy, I am down right a mean and sad.. and if I keep going like that they my life is only going to be one pile of junk and I dont want that for them..

I am also doing thos for my self.. I truly belive if I am not happy then who can I make other people happy..

or have other people like me..

I think your doing what makes you happy and if you are not happy with your weight or your health .. then you got to do what you got to do and what you want to do..

so good luck. and do what makes you happy..

this is a very scary thing... and waiting is a tough thing I am so happy that my program I am makes you go through all this stuff. I went to an information meeting in Jan. then in feb I had my first meeting with the surgeon then two weeks ago I had my work up stuff. stress test, upper GI. blood work, ecko cardio gram.

then on the 16th I go for the phy eval.. (well there goes that I failed) hahah and I have to work with a nutritionist then I see the Doc between all that. then I have to have a sleep study.. then.. I am not sure I think we do get it scheduled.. gosh I think having a baby went faster..LOL

you know it is almost like that.. you know its coming after a certin amount of time that passes and you prepair all for it.. LOL

well any ways feel free to write me any time good luck

You can do it

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
