Hello October bandsters i'v been banded 10/22/08 i feel just fine i actually feel better than i expected.slight gas the only problem gas x really helps alot i will keep u guys updatad on my journey be blessed much prayers for those going for the band.

Hello October Bandsters! I am fairly new to the site and have been taking the last few days to read some of the posts and take everything in! I am getting my band on Monday the 27th! I am excited and nervous all at the same time! I am so sure everyone here has gone thru the same thing!

I do have a question. I was told I will be on clear liquids for at least the first week or two! Do you guys have any suggestions for that. I have the beef and chicken broth and jello and popcicles. I am not sure what else to add. It seems kind of boring but from what I have been told by some people you have to force yourself to eat the first few days to a week.

Please keep me in your prayers and I so enjoy reading all of your stories and suggestions! Hugs to all

Heather

I am getting really nervous now! I have 27 hours till I leave for my Lab band surgery! What have you guys done to take your mind of surgery the day before you had it done?

I had my surgery last Wednesday, 10/22. I remember feeling EXACTLY the same way many of you are feeling right now... the anticipation, the excitement, the nervousness. The surgery itself went VERY quickly, even though I had a hiatal hernia that needed to be repaired. The doctor gave me a picture of the hernia and then a picture of it repaired, then finally a third picture of the band around the stomach... with absolutely no restriction whatsoever - darn it! In any event, the important thing, as you know, is to take it easy but still get up and move around a little. We cannot stress enough the importance of walking. It doesn't have to be fast or long.... just move and you will feel better! Also, taking a shower on the second day (with your BACK to the Water, of course!) makes you feel a little more human. I have stuck very closely to the liquid restriction diet, but 1/4 cup every other hour just wasn't getting it done, so now I eat 1/2 cup about every 3-4 hours and that seems to work just fine as far as me not wanting to gnaw my own fingers!

I am not on any pain medicines now (because I have to go back to work tomorrow/Monday), and the pain on my "port side" (which also happens to be my left side, so I should ALWAYS remember port and starboard!) is pretty yuck. Applying direct pressure seems to help - very similar to when I had my hysterectomy last year. One other thing.... important to remember... if you have not had a bowel movement in 2 or 3 days, you might seriously think about taking a Dulcolax or something of the sort. It was mentioned VERY BRIEFLY in my discharge papers, but you had to look for it!

In any event, best wishes to you all and I pray that each and every one of you has a wonderful experience. We definitely have a special bond that is exclusive to us. How fortunate are we???

Hola pumpkin Peeps....

I'm finally home after 3 days in the hospital....So much for the overnight stay. They gave me an adominal binder while I was there...and I love it...otherwise I feel like I'm gunna bust a gut lol. The pain has subsided ..and just have soreness around the port site. I get to take a shower ..cant wait !!!

Thanks for all ur support while I was in the hospital !!!

hey Dish

glad your are home and doing okay. sorry for taking so long in answering. i have been staying with my sister since before surgery. i live 3 hrs. from here. she has been keeping me out most of the days. i sure feel it by night time. i start getting a little stiff. i really think i'm over doing it.

it's hard for me to get in and out of her Yukon. being only 4'9" it is quite a stretch.

feeling pretty good. haven't taken any pain meds since i left the hospital. i just take the raglan, which is for my stomach. it sure gurgles a lot.

some times when i burp, my entire inside of my stomach burns a little.

i am amazed at the way i feel. i mean i would like to feel a lot better, but this is nothing like i expected. i've had 4 major surgeries so i guess this just was an easier one for me.

Hi guys,

Well i got weighed today 2 days after surgery and its 3 weeks on monday since preop and i have only lost 10lb in total. I lost 8lb preop and 2lb after surgery. Must admit i am a bit disappointed.

sweepyx

thats awesome i have lost 11 and i had surgery 27th so i think we are doing GREATTTT

All together I have lost 20lbs. I had surgery October 8th but that is also including the time before I was having tests ran before surgery. Remember guys this is not a quick fix this is a tool. You don't want to lose fast because it is much healthier this way 2 or 3 lbs at a time. Pick up the exercise and while eating less we are destined to lose. I am very happy right now and look forward to being alot healthier in the future. At least I am trying now. Good luck to all of you who have had your surgeries and those who are getting ready for surgery. It is a blessing to be able to have this surgery and it gives me hope.
