How many days off of work??

Recommended Posts

My surgery was the 29th of July and went back to work August 10th. Should have thought about going back 1/2 days the first week, still very tired and scabs still on my tummy.

Lotusflower,

I too have been depressed. Yesterday I broke down after looking at my incisions. I must admit that I have had issues with depression in the past, but have dealt with it as best as I could. My husband had a valid point. food makes me happy and now that I cannot satisfy my needs with food what will I do? This will be work in progress. I can honestly tell you that I did not go to the mall today because of the Great Cookie (snickerdoodles). I buy them buy the half pound, at one time by the 1lb bucket. It is weird, I'm not hungry just obsessed with different foods. It may be churros, Cookies, ribs, cinnamon Buns, etc. I have a terrible sweet tooth. I know it may sound a little nutty, but I really like food.

On a lighter note, the 10 lbs I lost is great. I can fit into shirts that would have otherwise collected dust. My goal weight is 160, anything smaller I think I will look sickly. Well, I am going to relax and enjoy my last day home.

Kim, I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I think it is either people feel like they are a little sore or they are in terrible pain - nothing in between! Also, it seems women handle it better (maybe because we are used to monthly menstrual cramps). Either way, Good luck on Monday - I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I tried going back to work today for a little bit. I just wanted to see how I would do. I got there about 10:30 and it was just a mad house. lunch came and I drank my Soup, then I just had a bad sinking spell. I tried to wait it out til five but no way. So I headed out and got home and slept 3 hrs. So I don't know what I am gonna do when Monday comes around. I hope that work is gonna work with me, cause I don't think that I can handle 9 hrs. I guess I will see. I do feel better today.

I had my surgery on the 6th and felt good pretty much immediately. I definitely didn't feel "normal" but felt really good. I took my pain meds for about 36 hours regardless of the fact I wasn't in pain...I mostly just wanted to sleep. I never had any gas pains or any problems. Every day was a significant improvement from the previous day with day 3 being fantastic! I went camping 4 days after surgery and didn't have a problem at all. I've been more sore for the past 2 days than I was for the previous 2 days because I did some hardcore sweeping on Wednesday and that worked all the muscles I shouldn't have been working. I had my post-op appointment today and like I told the doc, "it wasn't a big deal at all". I had my surgery on a Thursday and was definitely back to my old self and would have gone back to work on Monday had I not gone out of town.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
