PostOp/ Tightening Breathing Problems/ Sleep Apnea

Recommended Posts

:wink2: I got my lapband surgery in Oct 2008. My last tightening was in April. Ever since then Its been hard to take a deep breath. I have to try a few times to get a good one in. This happens off and on. 3 times its gotten to the point that my arms go numb and my hands tingle. i know that with this surgery your breathing isnt going to be the same espically since te band is right under your diaphram. Ive gone to see several doctors & hospitals. My overall health is fine. I dont know if the breathing/ fainting problem is being caused by somethng getting stuck in my band, drinking wine or what? people keep telling me its anexity but I never ever had it before the tightening. I need tightenings to loose the weight. Has anyone else felt this way?

Oh and I never had sleep apnea in my life and ever since the surgery, now I do!

Have you discussed any of this with your surgeon? This does not sound normal, and it will probably be in your best interest to get it checked out! Good luck and keep us posted!

My DOC says its normal to have a harder time breathing. Its just anexity. Im not getting a straight answer from anyone. Im just curious if anyone has fainted like that or felt anything like I have.

I do not have a band yet, gettting ready. but I do suffer from anxiety attacks that manifest in the exact same manner as what you are describing. I feel that I can not get a good deep breath. Then I try harder to get it, making my hands and sometimes legs tingle. I begin to hyperventialte. I would wake up with an attack sometimes in the middle of the night, no reason at all. so it very well could be anxiety. I could not say why I was having them, I never knew why they started and when I would get one. They are better, I have learned how to better manage them, but they are scary when they happen, especially at first. I hope you can find out what the problem is soon. Some people do well on anti-anxiety meds - that may be something to try. I did not like how they made me feel so I wnet to therapy to talk to someone about it. Seemed to help just talking about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
