September 2009 Band Date

Recommended Posts

hi everyone. I just had my first fill today. he had a hard time finding the port so he squeeze and move and poked. It felt like two bones rubbing together everytime he missed. He finally laid me down and got it right away. I did it the Water way. It was simple. I think I coulda tolerated more saline but i didn't want to push it on the first go round. I am 258 by their scale. I go back in 6 weeks and my goal is 245. I CAN DO IT! I hope everyone has set a great goal. I also hope their experience is going well.

Everyone, I AM STARVING!!! I went for the fill yesterday, and I have been hearing from others how they don't have cravings or want anything etc etc. Well not me. Maybe I shouldve let him fill it all the way to the top. I'm on liquids right now and nothing is making the pangs go away. I need to eat! bad bad me but I had a few kernels of popcorn. I couldn't take it and I know its bad but I couldn't stand to hear my stomach any longer. Has anyone else gone thru this?

I don't get a fill until nov 25, because the doc wanted to give one the second week of nov but i am going to disney nov14 and didn't want to go with new fill in case of problems. So I am hungry all the time. Can't wait for fill. Hope I don't have that problem also. Donna

How much did you get - i was on the high side at 4.7 (actually they started with 5.5 i had them take some out) on a 10cc lap band. I couldn't eat anything for a couple of days. I had pressure just drinking liquids.

Next, I haven't been here in a while. I went over to the Post surgery board but I see all of you are still here. HI.

I just have to say, I am starving. I lost alot of weight pre and post surgery because I stuck to the pre diet and instead of doing the shakes for 2 weeks I did it for 4. Lost almost 20 lbs during that time, then another 10 doing the clears and shakes the two weeks after

I had some problems so the Dr did an un-fil. I didn't have anything in the port so he took out all the air. I was ok for the first few days but now I am eating everything that goes past my face. I gained a lb and know there are more sneaking around trying to find me. I go back to the Dr on Thursday and I am insisting on a fill.

I have had lots of problems, pain in the shoulder was terrible but went away in the 4th week. I had terrible gas pain in my chest going up to my throat that was not relieved with Gas-X but Milk of Magnesia did help. But I had to take 2 tbsp 3 times a day until he did the un-fil.

I had a horrific (Dr's words) hernia that he had to replace with mesh because he couldn't sew it back together because it had been so destroyed.

Can you tell I was really down and not happy with what I had done?

Well now that I am feeling better I want a fill so I can see what this puppy can do for me. I am at a stand still with weight loss and need to see some lbs go. I haven't lost anything for almost 2 weeks, just stayed at the same weight until yesterday's 1 lb gain.

No, they didn't tell me how much that put in except that it is about the amount that they give to everyone. I don't know. I'm waiting to see once I started eating. I'm going to try to eat now. Wish me luck.

I was hungry too after the first fill. Once you start solids it should get a little better. My fill did not kick in at all until about a week later, and I could not tell unless I had very solid food (like meat). But my hunger levels were better.

Hope this gets better with solids!

Guys I'm having trouble... i've had about 3 pb's one was bad the other two minor... since my fill. The thing is that it is inconsistent so I never know what I'm getting. Some times I'm starving.. and can eat anything and other times chicken (the culprit will get me). So today was starving day I actually had a slice of pizza slowly (PMS - lapband isn't doing anything for that ... then I had filet mignon which was like butter last time and i got the really expensive one (organic a fortune)... and it was tougher meat this time and PB again. I'm annoyed cuz now I have this filet mignon so I pureed it. As liquid as can be I have to be on liquids for two days or this cycle can go on (though I don't feel sore)... anyone have any words of wisdom?

Sorry, I don't. Except maybe your body is still adjusting. Also like you said maybe pms has something to do with it. I'm still hungry and don't know what to do with myself.

Thanks Tawonda... can you go for a fill sooner? I have another fill in 2 weeks and i'm seriously wondering if i should cancel the only thing is this one is my first visit w/ my surgeon. I have been told that some days are worse than others for whatever reason. Of course I think I should just QUIT trying to eat the problem foods like steak and chicken!

Hi everyone,

Had my first fill last week. Didn't seem to do anything at all. I WAS surprised that it hurt when they stuck that needle in but I guess I should have expected it. I have had no trouble with any foods, only general GAS. I nhad a 2cc fill which is the LIMIT at U of P for a first fill. I have lost about 20 pouinds since my band 9/8 (about 6 weeks) so I do fill up more quickly, but WOW within 3 hours I am hungrt like a bear!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
