September 2009 Band Date

Recommended Posts

Happy Birthday Amanda - on your birthday you should be allowed to do what ever you want :blushing: At least that is my rule!!!

I am on day 7 of the pre op diet...so I am half way there since next week Thursday will be my last day since I am going in on Friday.

I steped on the scale today to see I am at 290. OMG that made my day. So half way through and half way to my goal. Even with the little bit of food I ate to help me.

I just hope it keeps going like this next week. The past few days I have been losing 2 lbs a day.

I am getting excited and nervous at the same time.

I am not to worried about my abnormal EKG. I have had that happen before. I just hope it all works out and I don't have to delay the surgery.

It feels like finally my luck and my families luck is starting to turn around. I hope it keeps going that way.

My big challenge again will be this weekend. My Step Son will be here and I am sure my BIL's either both or just one of them will want to come down for the weekend. Which means a lot of food will be ate. (My BIL's are 16 & 18)

Okay Happy Thursday everyone...how is everyone else doing??? Some of you only have a few days to go...I know with about a week to go I am bouncing around thinking about it and day dreaming about a thinner healthier me!!!

Hey all...and special greets to our birthday girl!

I just got back from my pre-op appointment. I spent about 1/2 an hour with my surgeon and his PA (who does his fills) an hour with the dietitian and 2 hours doing general pre-op testing and running around. It took about an hour longer than I expected and I still have to go to get my blood drawn tomorrow.

It made it all very real today. According to their scales I had lost 20.1 pounds since my visit and he was pleased with that. He told me not to lose my mind and to realize that now I had a liquid diet and needed to stay on it. He did say I should go have a regular lunch...so I did...so..from here on out..I am a Protein Shake drinking and V-8 Soup eating girl!

I have a list of foods that I can eat week 1 and 2. They are both clear and full liquids. The dietitian said we could have either, but that we had to have 4-6 ounces of liquid every hour. I can't have my V-8 Soups until week 3 post-op because she considers them to be pureed foods. I am off to buy sugar free puddings tonight since she said I could have those.

I do have to stay overnight. My surgeon doesn't like to take any chances after putting obese patients under anesthesia...so that's the way it is. I do have a private room so I should be okay. He doesn't put any Fluid in when he puts it in. He follows the standard practice of filling 6 weeks post surgery. He did say that when I have my 2 week checkup that he will release me to go back to the gym if all is well.

I am as ready as I can be...and surprisingly getting less nervous...only 5 days to go..

Well the scale finally moved this morning. I am down another 2 lbs. I also did an hour of cardio at Gold's gym. That was a great workout but I can't wait til I am able to lift strength train as well a few weeks after surgery. I have only had Protein Drinks today and so far so good, before I was doing shakes and Soups but I thought I would try the Protein Shakes only today. Well Happy Thursday to everyone and thank you for all the birthday wishes. I am starting out my thirties with a new and healthier me. Yeah! 5 more days!:blushing:

Okay ladies' date=' we're almost there.. Good Luck to Us All !![/size']

Today, I went on u tube and seen some lap band failures.. I must say they got me a little nervous.. But, I figured I should see them and get a different perspective.. I did notice a several similarities, it seemed that after throwing up they did not return to two days of all liquids. That is what my doctor recommends.. After that it seemed that things went down hill, obstructions, slippage, and more. So, lets ask a lot of questions and be prepared.. Lots of Love and Prayers to All

I noticed we are the same age and having surgery a week apart. I am having my Band on Sept. 15th. It would be nice to keep in touch with someone my age in noting our progress.

My surgery date is Sept. 8th also!! I have been on a 1200 calorie diet for the last 2 weeks and have lost 10 lbs!! I start the dreaded liquid diet tomorrow. I get 5 shakes and 1 meal bar a day. The center I am going through uses Optifast shakes and bars. I've heard they are not the most tastey but I did try them and they are doable. Good luck and keep us posted

I am on the Optifast now. The vanilla and chocolate are not that bad. I really like the Vanilla. They both leave a little bit of an after taste.

I started out slow with losing but now I am averaging about 2 lbs a day for the last few days. I have my surgery in a week and I can't wait.

Happy Friday everyone

Hi all & welcome new posters! Today is my last day of real food for a long time. Tomorrow I start my 3 days of clear liquid and I get my band on Tues. 9/1. I know there are a few of us Sept. 1 bandsters.

Anyway, I emailed the nutritionist asking if I could do the clear Isopure drinks, and she said nope, just broth, crystal light, sugar free Ocean Spray, sf Jello & popsicles. That is it. No coffee. No straining Soups, just plain broth. NO Protein at all! So I will be starving for sure, not to mention cranky from the caffeine detox. Am I the only one that has this sort of pre-op diet? At least it is only 3 days.

Good luck everyone & have a great weekend. :w00t:

Hi All, can I join? I just got the go ahead for surgery Wednesday! I hope I will have my surgery date by today and was told it will be the last week of September. Here is my bummer, I have a liquid diet for 3 weeks! I wonder why mine is so long and some of you guys only have a few days? Hmmmm....And can I ask a question? What am I doing wrong? I can not get that cute ticker copied onto my signature, what am I doing wrong?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
