Slow Losers - Unite!

Welcome to the "Slow Loser" thread on LBT.

A few orders of business to begin.

First, we need to elect a leader. Someone who will voice our opinion clearly and with wisdom and humor. Our Leader will support us in our efforts and remind us of our NSV's and to not be discouraged.

I nominate - Vinesqueen. I can think of no on here on the board more eloquent and positive in her day to day outlook. (she has no idea about this, by the way - this is my own little invention - but I still think she should be our leader)

Second - we need to define "slow loser". I would propose that a slow loser is someone who is losing (or lost) less than 1 pound per week (average) during the first year of banding.

Third - Our Mission. Our Mission will be to stick together as a group. There is always strength in numbers. As we see newly banded people losing more in a month or six weeks than we have lost in 6 months to a year, we will join together and remind each other of how well we're doing. We'll chant the LBTSL ( that LapBand Talk Slow Loser) mantra of "It's not a race, it's not a race" over and over again.

Will you join me? Will you, a slow loser, a turtle in the weight loss race, make your voice heard amongst all these rabbits? Mostly will you let me know that I am not alone out here in bandland?

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

  • I support the definitions and the nominee. As a slow loser, at just one more fill until my band is at it's quota, we need positive support and continual encouragement. From one turtle to another!

Bummed, the best advice I can give you is to stay on the liquid diet as long

as your doctor tells you to. It's very important for the band to heal on

your stomach while it's NOT digesting food.

I lost the most weight while I was on the liquid diet. I lost 22 lbs in

4 weeks. Sometimes I think I should go back on liquids!

Banded April 18 2007 and 250 day of surgery

First fill june 3.5 cc fill weight 246 done under flouroscopy.

1 week later felt no restriction must be becasue I lost my fill key words here LOST

June 21 2007 lost 1.5 cc of fill and was filled to 3.2 cc in docs office weight 246 notice I did not lose ANYTHING???

Not sure why I lost that much of my filll but seems I can lose more in fill then I can in weight :heh: NOW IF THAT DOESN'T SCREAM WINNER WORTHY OF SLOWEST LOSER TITLE NOTHING DOES LOL:rolleyes:

Today weight is 242 June 24 2007

I am working with a personal trainer now and work out 6 days a week Doc suggest I work out 7 but I need a day of rest .. even the God rested on his 7 th day

With this all said can I toss my Band into the ring and nominate myself for the slowest loser of the year so far??????? LOL

Can anyone beat my slowest lost??????????

Only thing I can say is I Didn't lose my humor in all this but I really wish I would lose the weight NOT MY sanity

SLOWEST USES UNITE !!!!!!!!!! :)

I will be happy to hand my crown AKA band to anyone else who can beat me in not losing the weight .. LOL :clap2: trust me I am ready and willing to give up this title if i am so elected LOL

:help:I would like to know what to do to even loose a few pounds. I know that I am eating less, but I am sure they are the wrong things. I've lost 20-22 lbs. since the beginning of March. Most of that came before banding. I am definately a slow loser!! Ideas??

I've said this before, but I would like to remind people of something. With a band, you will not lose weight faster than you have with diet and exercise. The band makes the calorie restriction easier, and that's it. However fast you lost weight on 1200 calories in the past, is how fast you'll lose weight on 1200 calories now, only you shouldn't be so hungry, and you shouldn't feel so deprived, if you have a good fill level. Some people just lose slower than others. ;)

Dont feel alone, I was banded on march 20th and have lost 28 lbs. I know that I'm eating a lot less, but like you not the right choices all the time. I think that we can do this but it will take time. I had my 3rd fill last week and I'm eating a lot less, but the scale has moved back up instead of down. I need to excersize also, which I have not been doing on a regular bases. I seem to lose when on the clear liquid or all liquid right after a fill, but then I just hang around the same weight. I lost only 4lb from may 21 to june 19, not a lot, but I will take it.

good luck and hang in there.

why do you think you are a slow loser? are you overeating? wrong foods? not execiseing? i have same problem. on 8th adjustment! banded on 8/2006 . its either too loose or too tight. Starved or not. Can eat whole plate of food or 1/4. lost 29 pounds only

slow loser? i lost only 29 punds since 8/2006! i am on my 8th adjustment. i honestly think that your banding need to be perfect in some people. i think that you can manipulate into eating more, for example if i get too full and still want to eat i can SLOW SIP liquids to push food down to eat more. i excersise when i want, i eat bad foods some times and at wrong times. i think your weight loss is ok, hang in there

I am so tired of being in the slow losers club!

I talked to my gym and they said they finally hired a trainer. I am going to spend some bucks and learn some new exercises. What I am doing obviously isn't working.

Hare, on average, it's 1 to 2 lbs per week, or 4 to 8 lbs per month. But, average means some weeks you wont lose anything and other weeks you'll lose 5, or 10, or whatever. I read something recently that says .5 lbs per week to 2 lbs per week is average, and if that's true I'm average, at .51 lbs per week, lol.

I was wondering if anybody felt like me? I have lost only 29 pounds since March 3, 2007. Can I PLEASE join?

May I join??? I had lap band in June of 2005. I had lost 55 pounds, then gained it all back. I have been at a stand still since then. I am trying to get back on track now.

Yes, you are welcome to join us. You will be okay. Just make sure you are working with your surgeon to get the right fill level.

I haven't lost anything since I got filled at the beginning of June. I lost 5 lbs right after the fill, but nothing since. In fact, I am having trouble keeping that 5 lbs gone. I think next week I am going to drink a protein drink for dinner.

People say not to drop your calories, but that's the only thing that works for me!
