Got banded this morning

Hi Everyone,

I know how scary this surgery is to all of you. This morning lying in pre-op I contemplated making a run for it and not getting it done.

But I just want to let all of you know that it's not that bad. I'm sore but not too bad. When I went to post-op, the pain was about a 3 on a scale of 1-10 and 10 being the worst pain ever. They gave me some pain meds in my IV. I wasn't nauseated but thought it wouldn't take much so they gave me something for that in the IV too. I think that helped more than the pain meds really. Ice was a little tough because the cold hurt my belly. So I've stayed with warm or lukewarm things.

I've even managed a walk to the neighbors and back.

So keep your spirits up. So far the waiting for it to happen is worse than the actual surgery.

I'm glad it's over and I know that you will be too. You can do this and it will be so worth it!

Thanks so much for your post! I think for many of us it IS the waiting that's the hard part...you start to freak out. I know I am and I don't even have a surgery date yet. Your post makes me feel a little more brave.

Sounds like you are doing really well. Good luck to you!

Happy Banding,

TPG

Finally getting your band is wonderful. I am glad it has been easy for you so far. I am anxiously awaiting my approval. Nice to see some one get there! This is the first day of the best of your life, I figure!

Congratulations on your banding!!! I'm glad to hear that everything went well and the pain was at a minimum.

Please keep us posted on your recovery and progress.

I'm on my pre-op diet now waiting for approval. Its like hurry up and wait!! Its driving me nutssss! I'm on 2 shakes and 1 lean meal a day. I just want that call to come.

AWESOME !!! Congrats on this wonderful new phase of your life and thank you soooo much for your posting it really does help. I'm in the same boat as you Horizontravel...the wait is a killer !!!

Yes its crazy waiting on this call. You have a surgery date that's were i"m trying to get to. How long did you wait for them to call to say that you were approved?? I have been also walking every day to get this 10lbs off.

Congratulations on your surgery. I am gald you are doing well. Keep us posted. We want to hear all the details even the awful ones.

This morning lying in pre-op I contemplated making a run for it and not getting it done.

Ha! I did this too. They were wheeling me into the OR and I was thinking about screaming at them to halt. I didn't, though

Thanks for letting us know how it went! It definitely does ease some of the nerves to hear good experiences like yours while a lot of us are in the waiting stage.

Congrats on being banded and good luck continuing on your journey!!!

I felt the same way except it was on monday! But as everything went and I go the IV (which ask for them to use liticain didn't know they were doing it!) And all the crap they tell you about what could go wrong. I kind of didn't listen since everyone had told me the same thing. When the drug doctor came in he asked if I had any requests I said all I ask is to be kept asleep and I was. Very little pain only around the port site...I only had one incision and that is next to my bellybutton. The only weird/odd thing is the amount of burps I have had I expected gas but not burps. And I have already lost 4 more pounds! :juggle:
