I figured that being scared or nervous is normal...but it can be nerve wrecking (LoL). I thought about changing my date but I know that I need to do this...so I will just try to stay focused on other things and pray for calmness.

Good luck. I am 2 days out and just remember to walk. I've had one issue with gas in my shoulder. Was painful. GasX strips are not to bad. I just feel like I have done several hundred sit ups. I expected the pain to be so much worse. As for nerves. I almost canceled my surgery the morning of. For me, Thursday was the first day of the rest of my life.

I think your feelings are normal...I was really scared...even in the surgery holding area I said to my husband "I don't think I want to do this" but 8 days post op I am feeling pretty good. I went back to work on Wed of this week and I am looking forward to my mushies. You will do fine and we are all here if you have any questions or concerns!!!

I think if you aren't scared then that should scare you! This is a major procedure that will change the rest of your life. Fear is natural and is a good thing.

I am still a month or two away and am chomping at the bit to have the insurance approval and my date set. But I also know that in the few days before the surgery I will be terrified and by the day before I will be ready to cancel! The morning of the surgery I will most likely be having a complete nervous breakdown. I have had about 7 surgeries (all those absolutely medically necessary) and it has been that way with every one. Usually as soon as the IV is in they order something to calm me down and the rest of the day is much better!

You will be fine. Just remember what your goal is-- a healthier you, for the rest of your life!

I am 2-1/2 days post op and I was saying the same thing until they put me to sleep!

Just remember the reasons you are doing this for and you'll do great!!

Hang in there

Fear has got to be normal, I think we are all feeling it or have felt it!Just think what the alternative would be if you didn't have the surgery. Doing that seems to give me the strength to turn off the fear and get my determination BACK! Good luck, I will be cheering for you!

I had my surgery on 06-17-09 and believe me I was scared in the beginning. I have a heart condition and other things that set my teeth on edge thinking about general anesthesia again. Not to mention the fact this is a lifelong committment. I chose my surgeon very carefully and I have been so happy with my choice. I will have my first fill on 07-07-09 and I can't wait. It just takes a couple of days to recover. I got stomach flu right out of the hospital so that wasn't fun but I am back to normal now and lost 10lbs. WDW Luver is right. You should be scared. It is reversible but not easily. It is something you must make up your mind to do and continue to do throughout your life. It is not an easy decision. I hope you have a strong support system that will help you. I chose my mother, two good friends, my sister in law and my husband (number one of course) as my support group. I didn't tell the world just them. They have been great. Good Luck to all of you who are awaiting the surgery. So far, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm SO glad to read this - my surgery is in under three weeks, and the reality of what I'm choosing to do is sinking in. Every time I drink a Dr. Pepper, I think, "I can't drink this anymore" or every time I eat pizza I think, "Nope - not anymore..."

But then when my knees hurt, it's hard to get up off the floor, when i can't cross my legs, etc. etc. then I get excited again.

Best wishes to everyone!

LOL - My surgery is on 7/14/2009. I am also pre-mourning all of the fun stuff to eat. Then I start limping around because my knee hurts and I am excited and scared at the same time. I go in tomorrow for my pre-op testing and they are going to put me on a liquid diet. I have considered canceling all day! But I won't I researched this and feel I have made the right decision. You will do fine, I wish you the best. :rolleyes2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
