I started the journey in August of 2008. I had reached my highest weight of 324. However, Insurance would not cover any kind of weight loss surgery/medicine.  I decided that the I would sign up for BCBS of GA to start in January. I knew they would require a 6 month Dr supervised diet, So I started going to my Dr every month. In september I went to the Informational seminar the Dr's office had. I got alot of questions answered. In February my 6 months was up so I made my first appt. Went in March to the orientation and to the Surgical Consult. In April I had to wait forever for the sleep study. Thankfully I had a sleep study done 2 years prior and insurance let me use that one. It did show I had Sleep Apnea so all I had to do was a CPAP study. Beginning of May I had my nutritionist and support group meeting. Then I got my CPAP machine. Surgery was on June 25th. I did well. Was home the same day. Surgery lasted 45 min to an hour and that was with them fixing a small hernia I didn't know I had. Dr said my liver looked great (I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior). I was on liquids the first week. 2nd week I started mushies/soft foods. I do feel very limited restriction but who knows if that will change from day to day. I took 2 weeks off from work, but could have gone back to work after 1 week easily. Pain was not that bad. The worst it was was when I was getting up from bed or laying down. Felt like I did an overabundance of sit ups and crunches. I go for my first fill on August 5th. I have an awesome support team. My roomate is my #1 followed closely by my best friends and my family.
