Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!

My doctors appointment. Well going on a 9 day cruise didn't stop the scale! I lost a 51/2 pounds! Yippie!

My first fill won't be for another month. He doesn't feel I need it yet. So I'm cool and happy. My next weigh in the the 28th of November when I go see my pcp.

Yea for Dianne and the weight loss! I know cruises can be especially tempting and you did wonderful..

Question for the Sept. bandsters: What's your surgeons philosophy for fills?

I am finding out that mine seems quite conservative. I was banded on 9-8-05. My last visit with my surgeon on 10-12-05 he asked me how much I was eating. He stressed the no calorie counting, no Snacks and no Water w/meals. He said if I don't lose 5 pounds in a month, then to call him for a fill.

My problem is I have lost my 5 pounds before the month. However, I am finding that I can eat more at a sitting and get hungrier in between meals. I still have willpower, at this point, and feel like I am on dieting.

I am happy with the weight loss, but feel like I am relying more on my willpower than the band.

What do you think?

That is a good question. I got my first fill on Monday and I was giving 3.4 ccs. I do feel that I have some restriction, but I do feel I am relying on my willpower more than my band. But I am still on mushies and am just taking it easy until i get on solids.

Wow Keri, you are doing great! Are you noticing a lot of difference in clothes? I was at Target last night, looking at the fat lady clothes, and realized I was looking in the wrong size!!! I'll be so glad to be getting down in weight, my sleeves are always too long, unless I want to re-sew them LOL!!! Karen

Well, I had my first fill yesterday, they called me in a day early. I got 2cc. I did have the flouro, which was very interesting, and I won't do it any other way. I was glad to see all was in the right place!! I of course can only have liquids, but I can feel restriction even with that. Now I can get really going on this holiday challenge and those 25 pounds off LOL!!! Karen

Thanks Karen for the kind words. I can see a difference in my face. All my blouses are fitting alot loser and I have had to stop wearing some of my stuff, looks like clowns pants on me. Other things like jeans for instance are still proving to be stubborn and difficult. My belly fat is hanging (literlly) :-) on for dear life.

2. Work on not drinking while eating....I have been doing this all week and have been very happy with my progress.

3. Walk at least 4 to 6 days a week, with some stomach crunches being added twice or more a week, starting 2nd week in November....I have been walking, but only getting 2-3 times a week, will continue to work on this goal.

Well I went to the store today to get an outfit for a business meeting tomorrow because just about everything is way to big. I was strongly pushing a 26. I could still get on 24's but they we not easy.

22 is fitting good, but the outfit I got was a 20!!! My eyes filled up and I started to cry in the dressing room. I felt such joy!! I'm so excited about my band!

Tomorrow I'm off to curves in the early morning, then business meeting.

Today I did have 2 bite size candies. A few bites of my sons pizza and about 8 bites of chicken parm. I feel like I could have done better because then I came home and had one of those 100 calorie cookie bags. I'm not having a fill until December. I guess I just need to stay away from pizza!! My girl friend who is hoping for the band was with me and kind of scared me by saying take it easy you don't want to blow it, I always blow it when I feel good about how I'm doing. Then I remembered I do too! So I guess I should just go to sleep and start over agian tomorrow. However the truth is I really don't think I even reached 1000 calories today.

Sorry forblabbing I just got a bit shook up.

I have to say, I'm really getting excited and serious about this. I was really struggling for awhile. The first 3 weeks I lost most of what I've gotten off, then nothing. I could have "dieted" and done better, but knowing I was going to have a fill soon, I just tried not to eat too much. I wasn't feeling as full as when I had started right after surgery.

I can feel the restriction, I've felt full all day, even though I am only having liquids. I am satisfied!!! That is just so cool, to not feel hungry. I was thinking, gosh my goal was 25 pounds??? No, I had said 20 by New Year's, exercise 3 times a week at least, and drink more Water.

Before all this band stuff, I was drinking a lot of regular Coke. I haven't missed it at all! I just don't "need" it. Water is sure a lot easier to get in when you don't drink anything else. I don't really drink much juice, although this week, do to liquid diet, I had some grape juice and will probably again tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great losing week!!! Karen

I was banded on Sept.20 and I have lost a total of about 18lbs. I had lost a few pounds prior to surgery and the rest of it had came off the 2 weeks after surgery. I have not lost anything since the end of the second week - I am on week SIX. I go in for my first fill on this Thursday the 3rd. I cant wait to get this weight gone! Jacilyn

Jacilyn, good luck with your fill tomorrow! I was in the same boat as you. The first 2 weeks I lost 21 lbs, gained back 5 when I started eating mushies, and stayed there for the next three weeks until I got my fill. I think getting the fill is the absolute BEST thing I could have done. I immediately lost 10 lbs in 10 days. Granted, I'm not looking for the scale to move that fast any more. I hope I can lose the next 15 lbs for the challenge by New Years.

I am a September 2005 bandster and I am so proud to say that I am down 30 fat pounds and I have went from a size 18 to a size 16 even though I have not bought any 16's hee hee only try them on at the stores. I had my first fill 1.5cc on 11/18. I am hoping and praying that I am 199.5 or less by christmas. That will be a great gift for myself. Good luck to all my bandsters and especially the September 2005 bandsters.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
