Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if there is a "technical" way to do this, I'm just going to commit to trying to get through these holidays with not too much sugar, I haven't had pop since the day before surgery!! I want to get a good start with my band and I think it will be kind of exciting to lose while the holidays are happening. When you first start out losing, it will show pretty well, too, so we can get all new stuff for Christmas LOL! My hope is to get 25 pounds off by New Year's. With that first fill, it better help, as I haven't lost any in a week or so. Karen

My first fill is on Tuesday, October 25th...I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

I can sometimes eat quite a lot (especially mushies) and other times I get "stuck" after a few bites. I did a real no, no the other night...I ate a roll and it darn near killed me! Was really bad!!! I had to run out of the restaurant I was in so I wouldn't throw up in front of everybody! My poor friend thought she was going to have to call 911! I didn't pb, just slimed but it felt awful. It was a very scary experience for me...by far the worst episode I've had so far. For the most part, I do pretty well. It's eating too fast or eating the wrong thing. Sometimes you have to just try certain foods to see if they will work. Now I know, bread is a big NO for me! Interestingly enough, I can eat popcorn without a problem! Every day is a new challenge...but I'm loving it!

Holiday Challenge! Ok, all you September bandsters... we should all be getting our fills in the next week or so. So... as of November 1... the challenge is to meet one of the following goals:

1. Loose 15 pounds by New Years Day.

2. Cut out something you are doing wrong, i.e. drinking when eating, sodas, etc.. you get the idea.

3. Add 20 minutes a day of any exercise.

If you are planning to participate, email with your choice(s) and then every Tuesday you will recap your week, tell us how much you've lost, or how many days you abstained from doing the wrong things, or what type of exercises you did for the week and how long...

Im in! Exercise everyday someway! WAlk at least 1 mile 4 times a week try for 7.

OK now I have a funny story to tell you guys.

As a lot of you know I was on a cruse last week. It was a 10 day cruse. We avoided Wilma by hours. Anyway for the most part I was pretty good. I had shake in the AM some type of chicken or fish for lunch drank Water like crazy, everyone else was drinking alcohol, so I added lime to my Water. But then at dinner time.....they came around with these wonderful little (really they were little) rolls. In the begining of the cruse I had 1 then half way through I went to 2. Then I'd have some Soup maybe 5-6 TBLS then some type of proitien chicken or fish and then a few bites of desert. I have not been on the scale yet, I go see the doctor tomorrow so hopefully I didn't gain.

Well the last night of the cruse I went outside to try to see if I could use my cell phone. The wind was so strong I had to hold onto the railing..MY UNDERPANTS FELL OFF! thats right right off! Thank God I had pants on or I realy would have been in trouble! I was laughing so hard and trying to hold myself up, that I couldn't pull them up. This man saw me laughing by my self so hard that he started laughing..I went into our gang just about dying with laughter and told them...We desided to put on the comment card that the food was so bad my underpants fell off due to weight loss!

Well I'm hoping I did lose some!

I measured my self the day before sugery which was 9/25 and I measured yesterday 10/25 I have lost 15 1/2 inches in a month.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
