WHY is this Happening??!!!????

Recommended Posts

I was banded in September 2007. I haven't had a fill in quite awhile...even gained about 10 pounds over the last 9 months. Over the past week, I have not been able to eat ANYTHING during the day, and sometimes it's questionable at night. Even liquids sometime turn into slime and I have to throw up. I am getting worried. I know I am supposed to have restriction but this is ridiculous. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it? I am going to call my doctor and see about getting a slight unfill.

Call your doctor, they will need to check and make sure everything is good. It may be that you are just swollen and that is making the band more restrictive but better safe than sorry.

It's allergy season. Do you have any allergies?

The reason I ask is that I am FINALLY getting over a terrible summer cold. My nose has run for three weeks and so much post-nasal drip. I had PB'd exactly twice since surgery and suddenly, I was sticking more than once in a meal, PBing at almost every meal and even having problems with liquid.

I finally figured out that there was so much snot in my throat that it was causing my problem I took a decongestant and, there you go, no more snot, no more sticking, no more PBing.

My doctor's physician's assistant said that a lot of people have problems when allergy season hits and they don't connect "band problems" with allergy problems. But it could be!

I would definitely call and talk to your doctor asap! You want to make sure there is nothing serious wrong. I am sorry things are tough right now but keep your head up and stay positive! Sending healthy vibes your way!

THANK YOU for your replies!!! I went to the doctor this morning and had a slight unfill (.3 cc's). What a difference! I was able to eat lunch today, and drink my coffee! The NP said that this happens sometimes, and they do not have an explanation. She did say that it was a good thing that I came in because the band could have slipped eventually from all the PBing or vomiting I've been doing. She even said that sometimes getting your period could tighten it, but I don't have that problem anymore!

I'm glad things worked out for you!

Yes, it's almost shocking what can cause a band to tighten even without fills for a long time: TOM's, allergy season (as others mentioned in earlier posts), and even stress, among other things. In any case, going to your doctor was a great call!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
