I'm scheduled for surgery in 16 days on June 25th. Friday night while I was sleeping I apparently ripped my CPAP mask off my face. I now have a hole in the mask thanks to my lovely fingernails (which have since been cut really short). I drove 2 hrs today to get a new mask and they gave me the wrong size. My dr wants me to be on the CPAP for 3 weeks prior. I'm gonna be a week with out since it will be Friday before I can make the 2 hr drive again. How imperative is it to be on the CPAP for 3 weeks? I've already gotten the time approved from work and that is near to impossible to do. I can't reschedule this. I have already sent the rep at the CPAP company an email asking him to assist me and possibly ship me one to my house. I'm so stressed now. :grouphug::cursing:

I would talk to your surgeon. I believe the concern is that if your too tired from not breathing well at night your lungs clamp down on the breathing tube and it takes awhile before it will release.

If you need CPAP equipment you can go online and order it from www.directhomemedical.com . I'm sure there are plenty of other companies to order from and you could probably overnight them. That's how I get replacement parts now. wwwcpaptalk.com is a forum you can join if you have questions about your machine. They're good at giving advice on where to get the cheapest equipment also. Good luck to you, Nancy.

I love my CPAP - I've had it for 7 or 8 years and I can't sleep / live without it.

I had my machine about a month before I got the band and did not have any problems before hand or at the hosp. I happen to forgot the machine at the time of surgery and they had a machine for me to use. They did not seem to be to concern with me not using it. Everyone is differant. After a year with the band I had a new sleep study and was told I did not need to use the machine and the dental device would do just fine and that I did not have to use it everyday.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
