Need Suggestions/Advice

Recommended Posts

There are so many pills and supplements that I have to take daily and the doc. said that they have to be crushed. Every morning I gag them down, but it is MISERABLE! Have any of you found a creative way to take your meds? Choking down gobs of nasty tasting, chalky stuff in the morning is not cool!

That is not fun. It's a shame your doctor or pharmacy can't help you. When I had my surgery, I was taking a blood pressure pill that was too big. My doctor found something that was similiar and it was tiny. My Vitamins and other supplements that I take are either tiny or chewable. If you've talked to them and there is no other way, I'm sorry. I don't have any creavite suggestions, but I'm sure somebody will. Good luck to you!!! Becky

My husband suggested putting the crushed pills into my Protein Drink in the blender. Oh, was I ever hesitant...just sounded nasty, but I tried it and it wasn't bad at all. I think I'll continue to do this until I can get the pills in chewable form (the ones that come in chewable form, anyway.) So, that's one problem solved. Now if I can just get rid of the exhaustion. Everything in time, I guess. I'm taking my 10 year old daughter to a concert this Friday, so I better get it together soon.

I mix pills with either applesauce or yogurt and you can hardly taste them.

I sprinkle my ADHD med on some applesauce, goes down nice and easy! I buy the little individual cups and I just recover it, usually lasts about a week.

I got my lapband on May 15th and have the same problem that you have. Uck. I had read some other posts that said to just take the pills, if they are not hugh. My surgeon's nurse said to crush everything. I am taking most of mine whole and splitting the really big ones. So far no problem. They go down with a drink of Water for each pill. Hopefully I will be off some of them by the time I get a fill. My pcp was not much help. He went down the list and said yeah try crushing them and advised me to check with the pharmacist. I know extended and long release should not be crushed. I am on a ton of pills and will be so glad to get rid of most of them. Good luck to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
