Scared-anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I am having my surgery on Friday the 5th and am nervous. I guess I am mostly afraid of having long term problems after band, like gerd, nauseousness, generally yucky stomach stuff. I am least nervous about eating differently or the actual surgery I guess.

Anyone else feeling jittery like me?

Melliecat, I'm being banded on Monday, june 1. My daughter has been banded since 2/08, and I can tell you that she has never regretted it for a moment. Sure, there have been some issues, but a lot of those have just been the learning process and, personally, from my own point of view she may have been somewhat aggressive on her fills but she had an agenda at 18 months to reach goal. Her life has completely turned around. She does have some issues with reflux but but that's getting better. Her biggest problem has always been not eating too late at night because then she has a hard time sleeping. So as long as she remembers not to eat anything an hour before she goes to bed, she's fine.

so like so many people on here say, as long as you respect what you can and can't do, then you should be fine (this coming from someone who hasn't been banded yet..lol). But she is my greatest support and go-to person.

Good luck and it will all be good!!

Trisha

Melliecat

I was banded 2nd of April and I have not regretted it for a split second. I was PETRIFIED of the surgery itself, rather than long term complications - hell, if its that bad you can have it removed - but it won't be - I am sure. I haven't had ANY problems at all - except for losing 25lb in 2 months!!!! It is normal to be scared and apprehensive - but the surgery was a breeze for me, and so has everything else so far - so keep optimistic and get excited, - you're about to get a shot at a normal life!! xxx

I am scheduled for banding June 12. My biggest fear is the surgery itself and waking up. Long term I am ready to beat my weight problems

Melliecat, I hear you!! Just 3 more days for me, and I'm getting more nervous by the minute. My brain keeps trying to convince me not to have the surgery that I should try one more time..... But I know deep down that this is going to be the best thing I can do for myself to finally be free of the excess weight.

Good Luck to everyone!! I can't wait to read posts from today's journies.

My surgery is Friday also, I am very nervous, tons of anxiety. I am afraid of the surgery itself, complications, not waking up, the whole nine yards. And then there are the fears of regretting it, and fears it won't help and I'll still be over weight, fears that it will have adverse effects on my marriage. So I think being nervous at this point is normal, I know I am, its right around the corner. I am not going to have finger nails left by Friday..LOL

I'm scheduled for the 5th too. A little scared of the procedure, but more scared I won't have the willpower to excersise. People don't realize, unlike the bypass, the banders weight loss is all up to us. Thats scarry.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
