Yes definately see you on the other side. I am super excited but what is really weird is the fact that I'm not as nervous as I have been. I just don't seem to understand it. But, I won't complain about it. Good Luck to all and talk to you in a few days.

Well I don't have to be into the hospital until 11:30, and probably not into surgery till 1pm. I believe I will be staying overnight because of the lateness of my surgery time. So I'll see y'all in a few days!

Best wishes to the rest of my fellow May 8ths!

Aww I see my name there. I had to switch my sugery date till June 18th. =( Its a sad day for me knowing today would have been the day I was suposed to be banded. =( Stupid swine flue. Its all calmed down like I totally thought it would, but I cancelled last week because of the President's urge for people not to do travel to MX if they didnt absolutely have to. June 18th was the soonest I could go back because I have finals starting next week for two weeks then I jet off to Hawaii for two weeks and when I get back from there Im going to want a week with my kids before I leave them for another five days to go to MX. So no banding stories from me today. I wont be posting that till June.

I'm alive!!! I must have kissed my little girl a million times over before I went in.

So my parents and I got to the hospital around 7:45am, surgery was at 10:30. They called me back around 9:00 to get me dressed, tons of questions and for some bloodwork that wasn't done. There I got dressed in the lovely gown with my blue hat and circulation stockings for my calfs. The nurse did give me a shot in the belly (blood thinner) it did sting but was very tolerable. I met with the OR nurse, the drug doctor and his assistant and then my doctor, Robert Pinnar and his PA Paul Marino (I knew I picked the right guys, my favorite quarterback is Dan Marino) came in and talked a little to me and my mom. They wheeled me into the OR room about 10:20 and I got over to the table and as the nurses where setting up my bed and placement of my arms the drug fairy gave me a mask and told me to take several deep breaths. By #2 I was OUT!!!! I woke up in recovery room with my PA Paul telling me I did great with my pre-op diet and everything went very well. I was in my private room by 1pm. My doc required an overnight stay. The nurses were excellent and my pain was managable. I did have to take some nausea medicine around 5pm. I slept off and on everyone hour. My left shoulder had some discomfort from the CO2 they pumped into me, but it wasn't that bad. I did go for several walks up and down the halls, which did help the CO2 move around and did make me feel better. Around 9pm I did ask for some pain meds and then slept through the night. I was discharged by 9:30am today, my daughter had a dance recital that I really wanted to attend, so my nurses did get me out on time. got my prescriptions filled and home by 11:30am. Slept till 3:30pm. the pain is there, around the incisions, especially the port one, and there is some CO2 still hanging around, but I haven't had any pain meds. Getting up and down from my chair or bed is no fun, so any tip would help. but I am so glad this part is over now, I have my band now and I am excited to use it in the future. I hope everyone else is doing great and to those who are next, good luck!!!!

welcome dtb0006 to the may 8th date.

Good to hear you did well, Melissa!

As far as getting up and down, I wish I had a good tip for you but I think the only real thing that will help is time. If it makes you feel better, on day 3 (yesterday) I noticed it wasn't even a struggle at all. Today it just feels like I've worked my abs out a lot and I feel like night and day compared to how I felt just a couple of days ago.

Hang in there, it sounds like you're doing great! :tt2:

Congrats to everyone!! ;) I have been doing good - was banded at 7:30am (was suppose to be 6am) on Friday but was in there for about 45 mins and then recovery for about 1 1/2 hours. I have been home since and have been sleeping, walking, etc and am finally feeling better today. The first day was the hardest for me I think mostly because I didn't kno what to expect. Most of the pain I have been experiencing is pain around the port area and the gas pains (C02) but the walking has done a lot of help and today I am just sore..

Can't wait for skinny!!! Hey did everyone get a call from their DR yesterday? I thought it was so nice that the called to make sure I was okay and wish a quick recovery...And does everyone have their followup scheduled?

ttyl,

Danielle

Well I'm back. Arrived at the hospital about 830 was in back getting prepped by 900. Got dressed in my wonderful gown and hat, met with the nurse, and all the doctors that would be in the OR with me. about 1045 after giving me all the shots and putting in the IV they rolled me into the OR. They slid me onto the operating table and began to prep me, next thing I know I was being rolled out of the OR not knowing where the hell I was at and coughing. I asked what was going on and the nurse looked at me and answered, you're all done we're moving you to recovery. I was in a little pain at that time so they gave me some pain meds. My doctor required an overnight stay so I was moved to a private room by 300. The staff at the hospital was unbelievable. They were so nice and helpful. Have not been in any real pain since the surgery, was able to walk around later that night. The only pain I'm really feeling is a soreness like I've done a 1000 situps. I got home yesterday at about 400 and was very sleepy all night. I feel great this morning just a little soreness in the abdomen when getting up and sitting down. Well first part of this journey is done, now for the rest to start. Has anyone really felt like eating anything and if you have what have you been eating?

Yay Don!

I haven't been hungry but I have tried to eat a little b/c the antibiotics they gave me were making me feel sick..so I have a little chicken broth (2 small spoon fulls - at slightly warmer then room temp) and a little Jello (about 1/4 of a Jello cup). I have been drinking lots of Water too...my Mom is taking care of me and she has been making me drink a lot b/c the DR said that would help w/recovery.

Anyway - my DR said Clear liquids for 1 week (broth, Water, jello, Popsicle - although I am not quite sure how jello and Popsicle are Clear Liquids : )

Yeah, thats exactly what I've been doing. And yes I don't understand how Jello and popsicle are clear. I was also told that I can have apple juice also. Have you been adding Protein Powder to your food. Cause I really don't think I'll be getting all my Protein with just my Soup and jello?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
