Can't believe this is moving so fast

Recommended Posts

Hi All:

This is my first post and I am really glad to be here.

I went to my first info session in March and already have my surgery date. I am so happy that I have Oxford insurance since it does not require the 6 month waiting period. I could have had my surgery this month but I will have it at the end of June as I am taking a birthday trip to Italy. I just want to have fun on that trip.

I am working with Dr Kurian at NYU medical and she seems to be really great. Everything has gone smoothly so far with all of my pre-op visits (although the waiting room is way to crowded).

I have decided not to tell almost anyone that I am having the surgery because I don't know if they will be supportive or feel like I have finally really failed at losing weight. It is way to easy for people to be judgemental so I will wait to tell them when I have lost enough weight to notice.

I am really exicited about the surgery (ok, well maybe the time after the surgery). I look forward to sharing this experience with all of you.

MINE ALSO MOVED REALLY FAST I WENT TO A SEMINAR ON APRIL 6, 2009. CALLED THE DR OFFICE NEXT MORNING AND THEY SAID I COULD HAVE THE SURGERY THE NEXT WEEK. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVEN TALKED TO THEM. I HAD MY CONSULT WITH THE DR ON APRIL 13TH AND MY SURGERY ON APRIL 14TH....I WAS A SELF PAY BUT I STILL DIDNT EXPECT IT TO GO SO FAST..I HAVENT TOLD MANY PEOPLE EITHER FOR THE SAME REASON, BUT I GUESS THEY WILL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT WHEN I'M SHRINKING:lol: HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL..GOOD LUCK.......

Well done for taking the first step. I live in the UK, and it has taken its time getting to this stage as I am going through the National Health Service to get mine done. I couldn't afford it otherwise:sad:. I am due to have my first appointment in 2 weeks and they have to give me the surgery by August 6th. Am so excited, yet scared at the same time. Enjoy the experience, this is the start of the new you!

Thanks so much. I am really wanting the date to come soon as I find myself eating just a bit more since I got this process started. I bet that is common. Whateve I won't be able to have again....I want to make sure I eat it before I can't. I just try to envision myself really being down significantly and I get all excited. I hope this really is the thing I need.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
