How are all the March 09 Lucky Losers doing? Updates everyone!

Recommended Posts

I want to know how everyone is doing! I've seen us all on a couple of threads and I thought I'd just start a new one to hear about everyone's updates, how you're feeling, and generally how this whole process is going for you!

I'm only down 15lbs since surgery, I can eat pretty normally now and am having trouble reducing my food intake as a result. I'm 4 weeks out, my scars are barely noticable (I generally heal well) and I'm going to be scheduling a fill within the next 2 weeks. I'm not exercising yet as I've been having a problem with what I think is scar tissue pain where my port is. I have a hard time eating dry chicken and scrambled eggs - but everything else I don't have a problem eating.

Hi all, I was banded on 3/5. Since the surgery, I have lost close to 17 lbs. I am down 31lbs from my highest weight. I have my first fill next week on 4/16. I feel fine, some intermittent Constipation, I am taking magnesium supplements to see if that helps. I am really not exercising as much as I should, but I do have more energy now and am moving around more.

Anyone else?

Mary, in NY

I am down 40 lbs from my maxed out weight. I am down

30 lbs since a week before surgery, and down 20 lbs

since surgery on 3/5/09.

I need to up my exercise, but I don't want to mess anything up until I see the doctor again on April 22nd for my first fill and 6 week post-op appointment. Right now, I am only released to to walking and I get at the very least, 20 minutes of walking a day. That doesn't sound like very much, it's the best I can do right now.

So, with 40 lbs down since Jan. 14th, that makes me 1/3 of the way to my goal. I realize that the weight coming off is slowing down, and I hope it will maintain at 1 to 2 lbs a week once I get

my first fill. I know, sometimes you need 3 to 4 or more

fills to find the 'sweet spot', but I am hoping anyways.

Banded 3/9

So far I'm down about 20 pounds since surgery. Don't know what I was at my highest. Had my first fill yesterday, and stomach feels sore...just a lot of gas/gas cramps.

And on top of that, I have PMS cramps too...:)

I was banded March 10. I lost 15 pounds on the preop diet and 10 pounds the week after surgery. Have stayed the same since then. Am eating about 1 cup of food at a meal. Nutritionist thinks I may be eating too few calories, so have upped to close to 1200 a day. scale is still staying the same but I'll take that at this point as my doc said I could gain some back before my first fill on 4-22. Looking forward to getting that. I can pretty much eat anything, really no restriction at this point, just a feeling of satisfied after about 8 ounces.

I'm doing pretty good, down 23 pounds since my surgery on 3/12/09, haven't started excersizing yet but I did join a gym this week that'll I'll be starting next week so that's progress anyway!

I don't feel any restriction at all right now, I have about 2 more weeks until my first fill, and am going on willpower alone right now, which if I had any I wouldn't be in this position in the first place right?! :tt2: But I'm trying to hold on, and do see myself making healthier choices now, which is nice, can't wait for a fill or 4 so I don't have to do it all by myself though!!

I was banded on 03/09/09. Up till yesterday (exactly one month after surgery), I lost 10 lbs since the surgery. I had my first fill yesterday - 4.4 cc (pretty aggressive compared to others in the forum) and had some gas pain from time to time. I need to stay on liquid diet for two days. Because I was on liquid yesterday, I seemed to losing 2-3 lbs this morning. The scale has not been so generous to me for a long time. However, I think this is just Water weight that I'll probably gain them back when I start soft food tomorrow. Therefore I am not counting the 3 lbs into my weight loss total yet.

I'm feeling good. Haven't lost a thing since I started eating normal food. I had been walking about 2 miles everyday, but nothing for the past three days. I'm going to start again today.

My biggest problem is snacking. I get so hungry on the portions my doc wants me eating and I wind up snacking through out the day. I'm snacking on good things - lots of Protein, but I still need to cut it out! I'm also having a hard time not drinking while eating. I find it very difficult to get all my Water in between meals, but I can easily down it while eating.

My fist fill will be on 4/21. I hope it helps some.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
