Time of the month

Recommended Posts

Ok i am seeing a pattern when my time is going.. I feel I can barely get anything down.. If i do not much stays there..Am I alone. My family is all worried about my eating and getting sick. But I truly can keep very little time down this time of the month. So today I will just drink so I am not misrable.. I am drinking a Protein Shake right now. but amazing enough if I dont drink it slowly I am sure this also would be a problem. Only a few days a month. Crazy stuff.. I am not eating any differntly right now than any other time. I spoke with my doc. he said just to eat very slowly. but at these times food really is not ok for me. Just want to know if anyone else has these days

I know a song that goes "you've got to know your limitations"....seems like you know yours for these circumstances. A Protein rich liquid diet a couple of days a month won't hurt you. Make sure your family knows that you are addressing your nutritional needs even if you can't seem to chew them on those days.

I do notice around that time i am retaining more Water that i feel more tightness than usual. I don't have any problems eating or vomiting (thank god). But you may be a lil too tight and when you're retaining it causes you to be too tight. Maybe you need a slight unfill. Good luck!

I actually discussed this with a few friends who have the band as well. We all agreed we are much tighter the week of our period and there are about 2-3 days that food can be difficult. Cheese/yogurt/cottage cheese work for me. You are not alone.

My doc actually specifically addressed this at my last visit. He said don't worry if when I get my period I become more restricted -- it's normal. I think he told me that because last month I lost 10 pounds and really felt restricted for the first time.

YES! I have these days. From the time I was banded until a month ago when I had my period I could eat ANYTHING. I felt wide open. It was awful! Now all of a sudden, these last two periods - I can hardly keep anything down. I feel uber tight and I have to be very careful of what I eat and my chewing.

I've come to realize the band has a mind of its own and it constantly changing. It's just a new reality now. Which may also change next week. LOL

It's really common to feel more restriction when you're menstruating. In fact, I'm on nearly all liquids for a day or two before and at least the first day or two of....but it gets better after that. Once you have more restriction, it will become more obvious. I find that I'm also more restricted when I'm stressed out or bloated. I've found exercising to help immensely. In fact, whenever I'm tight, a good 30 minute walk helps.

Hope that helps. I've been banded for a little under a year and a half and still have some issues with tightness. It gets easier, though not necessarily predictable. Paige

OH, ok..Me again! I'm back to say that some months are definitely better than others. I've had a problem keeping ANY food down for nearly 4 or 5 days now. I'm hoping today is easier. My last fill was back after Thanksgiving, so it's not as if I'm suddenly over-filled, though that can happen....

Just wanted to let you know that even a year and a half after banding, I still struggle with the same things!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
