I like to leave myself notes around the house, especially at my desk and on the refrigerator and other places near where I do work. Any suggestions for some encouragement? I am still lingering in "Insurance Purgatory" and I have been really sick for weeks. I could really use some uplifting. (comedy is always appreciated, also - I have a pretty quirky sense of humor!)

Thanks! You are all awesome! Finding this place has really helped me over the last year of trying for surgery. I am just starting to wear down a bit.:cool2:

I usually don't like this type of thing...BUT I found a few years back a quote by the poet Shel Silverstein that grabbed me by the throat. I had been working a job I hated for 20+ years and just quit, to go back to school and TRY to get into Nursing school. I was fat, almost 50, and in moments of sanity thought I was totally deluding myself. Now I'm about to graduate (still fat but that's improving; the age I can't help!) so it is a true little quote:

"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me: Anything can happen, child. Anything can be".

I just love it.

Thank you, that's a good one. We have some of his books, my daughter likes him a lot! My aunt quit her 20+ year job and went to nursing school at age 50, too!!!! That must be a "self examination age"!

The idea for the lapband came from the scriptures...

if it offends thee, cut it off

Don't know where that is....but it's in the scriptures somewhere.

lose2regainme, your screen name is inspiring to me. "Lose to regain me" is the truth!

Here are a few quotes, etc. my best freind gave me:

Courage...doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying...I will try again tomorrow.

Mary Anne Radmacher

Kind words can be short and easy, but their echoes are endless.

Mother Teresa

Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Abraham Lincoln

An Irish Prayer

May God give you...

For every storm, a rainbow,

For every tear, a smile,

For every care, a promise,

And a blessing in each trial.

For every problem life sends,

A faithful friend to share,

For every sigh, a sweet song,

And an answer for each prayer.

I don't know where I got this one, but I keep it posted at my desk:

"I may not have all my ducks in a row, but at least I have them all in the same pond"

Positive quotes?!? You got it. They may not be scripture, but inspiring nontheless...

- Pain is never permanent.

-Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

-What matters is not the size of the dog in the fight ; it's the size of the fight in the dog.

-Genius is 1% inspriration and 99% perspiration.

-Constant dripping hollows out a stone.

-Every ceiling, when reached, becomes a floor, upon which one walks as a matter of course and prescriptive right.

-Bear in mind, if you are going to amount to anything, that your success does not depend upon the brilliancy and the impetuosity with which you take hold, but upon the ever lasting and sanctified buldoggedness with which you hang on after you have taken hold.

-It is your attitude, more than your aptitude that will determine your altitude.

-You are the author of your own life story.

-I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.

-The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.

-Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

-To thine own self be true.

-Success is not measured by the position you reach in life, but rather the obstacles you've overcome.

I know I have more quotes, but can't think of them off the top of my head!!!

You are all AWESOME!!!!!! I really needed this today. Your sayings were great, some I have seen before, many I have not. Some made me laugh, and some made me cry. Others made me think. All of them I really needed. Thank you! You're all the BEST!!!

P.S. Thanks, also, for commenting on my user name. I thought long and hard for something to keep my attitude where it needed to be.:w00t:

I saw this quote on a fortune that came in a tin of mints about 12 years ago, and it has been with me ever since:

"He who says it cannot be done should get out of the way of the person doing it"

- Old Chinese Proverb

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
