Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Recommended Posts

UPDATE: I'm being banded on the 14th now instead of the 15th. I had my last consultation with my surgeon yesterday, and I'm feeling very at ease and ready. Good luck to everyone who's been recently banded...<3

so what should I do

someone else in this thread had the same problem...i think they just wound up telling the truth, but other suggestions were just to say you are on a crazy fad diet, another was to say that you're not feeling well, so you're not eating anything heavy, and i think someone else suggested canceling the dinner plans...:welldoneclap:

Got my surgery last nite..The pain is not as bad as I thought just muscle soreness in my stomach and a lot of pressure in my mid to upper chest.. But other than that my surgery went great, can't wait to see results

Reveiw board approval on 3/19/09 and submitted to BC. No answer yet? Anyone know how long it usually takes to get approval. Surgery date set for 4/28.:welldoneclap:

Yeah I can't cancel dinner we have it every Saturday

Well cheating is not an option - or you may miss out on surgery!

a) tell the truth

:welldoneclap: tell him you are on a diet

c) tell him you are not feeling well, go anyway and don't eat

d) tell him you are not feeling well and cannot make it.

e) tell him you have to catch up with someone else earlier for dinner and you cannot get out of it but you will come round for coffee later

Hi everyone

Well, here I am 4 days post-op and finally feeling great. I woke up with NO pain. Had a shower, got dressed, put make up on, my contacts in - life is good. Absolutely no pain what so ever. I then proceeded to make a big wonderful Breakfast for 15 folks (a bunch slept over last night - it was my son's 20 th birthday) and then I had a wee relapse and had to nap for an hour.

Not the end of the world. I still feel great. It was just a small reminder that I can't do cart wheels just yet. I am back up and still feel great and really get how important resting is. I will take it easy for the rest of the day. I have decided I can't go back to work until at least Wednesday or I'll be back flat on my bum! My stomach is already flatter and I am looking forward to starting to go on daily walks. Good luck to all you April bandsters who are being banded this week - believe me, it is all worth it.

MommaD, Happy to hear you are doing so well so soon.

Please don't overdo it. Rest, rest, rest. Can't wait for my turn on Friday.

Keep giving us your great updates.

I feel better today, but there is some yellow bruising on either side of the port incision. I hope this is normal.

Everyone should rest at least 5 days after surgery. It takes that much time to feel somewhat normal again.

Swiss, it might be the iodine from when they sanitise you and its trapped under the dressing. Otherwise yellow is a normal bruise stage - so long as they are not big and red it is fine.

Mine are itching like crazy - they must be healing - but I will ring and check that it is okay today! ha ha.

MommaD - RELAX!!! you are as bad as me. I am day 5 today and on day 3 I went supermarket shopping - and goodness me - did I regret it! As boring as it is - sit on the couch and watch TV, Water the potplants outside, make yourself a cup of tea, watch more TV.... it will pay off!

Hannah, how'd it go?

I am enjoying hearing how everyone is doing post surgery. Tomorrow I have a wildberry drink that I have to have 7 glasses of. Then Tuesday is the big day!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
