Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
Hi everyone Well I had my first fill two weeks ago - when he put my band in he put in 5 cc's - the added .5 two weeks ago and another .5 today. Hardly felt a thing thank god! I am now down 19 pounds and starting to see movement so feeling pretty happy. I hardly ever feel hungry and have no desire what so ever to eat the horrible things I ate in the past. I pray it stays this way. I live just outside of Toronto and this coming weekend the clinic where I had my band put in is having a symposium - a large group of us are meeting on Friday night for dinner followed by a day long symposium on Saturday. Really looking forward to it. Cheers

Hi everyone I haven't been on here in a while and boy have I missed a lot. I had my first fill two weeks ago and still don't feel anything. I don't have much of an appetite but have only lost 8 pounds post op - surgery was April 1 so quite a while. Not sure what that is all about. I feel like I'm hardly eating anything (and loving it) but why isn't the weight coming off? I have another appointment this week so hopefully I will find out more. I do know that I love the feeling of being satisfied and not wanting to eat everything in site. After my fill the RN said nothing to eat for 2 hours and that was it, no other restrictions. Enjoy the weekend everyone

Hi everyone I have missed a few days on here and now I'm lost. Are the Bunny Bandsters now merged with the April Bandsters? Congrats to all those who had surgery this week and all of you who got your dates - you will be very happy!

Hi Well I was banded on April 1st and am suppose to be on puree food now, but I got fed up and started eating real food yesterday. I ate very little, still no appetite and I chewed until it fell apart in my mouth. It was fine, no pain, no odd feelings, nothing. I was most pleased. Since that horrible gas pain in the shoulder disappeared, the rest has been great. I had potatoes, brocolli, cauliflower, carrots and ham. Not bad eh? I measured the quantity too - less than 1 cup and I couldn't finish it - how exciting is that! I am loving this band big time.

Hi everyone So here I am 1 week banded and I am as happy as a clam. I went from 'what the hell did I do, get this thing out of me, I can't stand the pain" to....... no pain, feel great, feeling thinner, not at all hungry, no desire to eat, little tiny slits of scars (I'm not really one to care about scars mind you), no gas pain, no pain at all, sleeping on my stomach. I cannot believe how good I feel now when I felt so bad this time last week and it lastest a few days and it was really nasty. Hang in there everyone, it goes by quickly and is well worth it. I told a few folks at work I was going off for surgery but not what kind of surgery. In the past year I have had a hysterectomy and a partial mastectomy (turned out to be non-cancer thank god) so they were all wondering and being 'silent' isn't really my nature. So I decided that they all thought I was having a boob job and thought I'd wear a pair of oranges in my bra my first day back and see what their reaction was - what do you think? :tt2:

Oh Hopeful - yuck - I too went through that and was so lightheaded - take some liquid gravol - it works quick and is very effective. I only had to take it once and it was great! Good luck

p.s. I lost another pound, now down 14 :w00t: and I am telling more and more folks what I've done - decided that this wasn't so embarrassing after all - what the hell, we all have something we need a little help with right:blink:, this is a good thing, we've taken control and have sought some help - good for us !!! It is 89 degrees in Orlando today and I am heading there for a week on April 24th - I won't be in a bikini but I will be in more comfortable clothing that's for sure

Hi MommaD checking in. I am most excited for all you folks getting banded in the next couple of days. When I think of how nervous I was last week, if I had only known, it would have been easier. Guess that is something we all need to go through. I joined this group over a year ago which of course is when I picked the name Mommad. I couldn't for the life of me remember what on earth it stood for until one of you referred to me as Momma D and now I get it - thanks, I am indeed Momma D! It was driving me nuts - oh the silly things in life. In terms of relaxing and watching TV, you are absolutely right. I threw in a load of laundry today, vacuumed the family room floor (a very small room) and dusted the TV and then napped for an hour - too funny. My mom is still here helping me out which I really appreciate it. I am struggling with what to eat, oh I mean drink this week. I have started on Slimfast which is allowed and oh so yummy but it seems to upset my stomach so I am back on chicken broth which isn't exactly a candle lit dinner material !! Well I have decided to stay off work until at least Wednesday this week and maybe even Thursday, we'll see. Good luck to all you having surgery today and in the coming days.

Hi everyone Well, here I am 4 days post-op and finally feeling great. I woke up with NO pain. Had a shower, got dressed, put make up on, my contacts in - life is good. Absolutely no pain what so ever. I then proceeded to make a big wonderful breakfast for 15 folks (a bunch slept over last night - it was my son's 20 th birthday) and then I had a wee relapse and had to nap for an hour. Not the end of the world. I still feel great. It was just a small reminder that I can't do cart wheels just yet. I am back up and still feel great and really get how important resting is. I will take it easy for the rest of the day. I have decided I can't go back to work until at least Wednesday or I'll be back flat on my bum! My stomach is already flatter and I am looking forward to starting to go on daily walks. Good luck to all you April bandsters who are being banded this week - believe me, it is all worth it.

Hi everyone Checking again after my April 1st surgery. Well, it hasn't been great. The good doctor continues to call me everyday. Today the pain in my shoulder has finally eased off a bit but not completely. I have had my moments wondering why on earth I would do this but it is clear to me now that this will all be worth it. I have had hardly anything to drink since surgery and have no desire to even drink. I am only doing so to keep healthly. The only time in my life that I had no desire to eat was after my father suddenly passed away when I was 23. I have had 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy and woke up starving after each. This is a very good sign. I cannot believe I'm not hungry. These bloody pains in my shoulder are horrible. They come on fast and furious, it feels like I am being stabbed. Luckily they don't last long. I am allergic to tylenol so am on codine instead and it makes me sleepy - not a bad thing. I talked to the doctor a few minutes ago and the tight chest that I have is normal. All of this is normal. I wasn't really expecting it because I have a high tolerance to pain and have been off pain meds much quicker than most in the past. I guess everyone's different. I can tell today is going to be a turning point, plus it's my son's 20th birthday. Good luck to those of you coming up for your surgery. Don't worry about it, just ride it out. Sounds rather easy for some and more difficult for others but no matter how you cut it, we are doing this for very good reasons - it took us a long time to get to this and if recovery is a few days longer, then so be it - it truly is the beginning of the best days yet to come. Someone was asking about feeling light headed - I did post surgery but the liquid gravol instantly took care of that - pls. have some ready, it is a god send. Have a great weekend everyone.
