I'm not telling anyone else I am having my stomach banded. They feel they need to tell me I'm not that big, I don't need it, I can diet/exersize and loose it and go on with my life. Last week I was told I was Huge by a patient now different ppl are telling me I don't need surgery...

NOT happening..I have made the biggest decision of my life and I'm not going to let Anyone change my mind!!! Diets don't work for us...Infact I'm trying to do the 6 months diet and cannot even kick the sugar/ junkfood habit. I need extra help !!! Hope I can kick this Sugar / chocolate habit... Any Tips??? Anyhoo...I vented...I'll be much better now

There are people around me that are telling me they would have never had the surgery-I dont care about what they think because I made a serious life change-I have to get my weight down because my doctor's office told me (once i got my blood work back) that I could be potentially diabetic in 5-10 years..and my cholesterol is 233--I was told it should be under 200..so I am risk for artery/heart disease..I am 29 years old with a 2 year old baby..I want to get healthier and live long enough to raise my child..Its terrible to think that she would be grieving over me because of the food choices Ive made all these years..But I am on the right track..I am losing weight and I feel better..Now I have to work on quitting smoking..but one thing at a time!! Keep the faith everyone!!!

I stopped telling people I was considering even. Just the negativity... oh you don't need that... you are too small. I didn't even tell my own family because my mother is stressed out enough with my father being ill. I kicked the habit by going on an all liquid diet before my pre-op which reduced my appetite. All in all I ended up losing 30 lbs prior to my surgery which was March 13. My appetite has not returned.

Best wishes but one thing I have to keep reminding myself is this is a tool, not a miracle. The weight loss has aided me getting off my diabetes meds so far.

I have more energy and plan to exercise once I feel up to it. I have been trying to walk at least once a day while I am healing.

The true formula is: less in and more burned through exercise. There's no magic in that. Just how we get there

Hang in there!

You might want to check with a nutrionist or a psychologist if you are having trouble with your sugar/junk food habit. Those are two things that very easily go down with a band.

My wife knows, my pastor knows, 3 friends know.

No one at my job knows, no one in my church knows, no one at my job knows, no one in my circle of friends (beyond the three) knows.

It is no one's business. If you've made the choice, then live you life and don't worry about them.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
