Hi, I was banded one week ago today and have been on the liquid diet, with one more week to go. This morning, my daughter (who is 5 and has been great during this post op period) announced she wanted rice and black Beans and rotisserie chicken for dinner. She hardly ever asks for something specific. Well, this is one of our favorite dinners, especially the chicken. It took all I had not to tear off a piece or more and stick it in my mouth and have a huge forkful of rice and Beans. Instead, I had my broccoli Soup, 1 cup, even though I have gnawing hunger pains. So I am going to have a bottle of fruit 20 and hope that holds me until I can have my last Protein shake at 8:30.

Please someone tell me that I did good. Now I have to go wrap all the food up and put it away!! God help me.....

Thanks for all of your support.

Mary

Keep up your mental strength!!! It is only one more week of liquid to get through. Take it a step at a time. I have been off and on the pre-op surgery diet, since January, not only to lose weight, but to prepare for the real thing, so that I will not fail during two weeks pre-op and shrink my liver for the surgeon to be able to safely work on me and place the band.

I have found that I CAN get through some of the most mind-blowing temptations, just overwhelmed with sight sound and smell of people eating and having to prepare food for others while strictly nearly all liquid dieting. Fortunately I do not force myself for more than a two week stretch at a time... I think that is about the mental and physical limit and thus, this is the reason for the two week intervals with our process... maybe...

Good Luck and stick with the program your surgeon and nutritionist have provided!

Mary,

You not only did good, you did Fantastic!!! I know the feeling except for the fact I have not had surgery yet. I am on the the two week pre-op diet and am having conferences with my students. The parents are bringing in tons of food and I can't eat any of it! I just keep thinking the end result will be great!!

I am proud of you and your accomplishment! Keep up the good work!!!

I'm 7 weeks post-op. You did GREAT! As for myself looking back...the 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet, the 2 weeks post-op liquid diet and the mushies phase were easy compared to now. Your diet is restricted and you really see the weight come off which makes it easier to make good choices. Then comes the introduction of "real" food and boy, do I get tempted and have to make some serious choices about what I will allow myself to eat, especially since I haven't had a fill yet and don't always feel full or satisfied.

Excellent willpower, But you know an extra Protein Shake would not hurt either a this point, The more fluids and the Protein promote healing. I bet that broccoli Soup was good too. Our nutritionist gave us a group of recipes upon checking out of the hospital. They were excellent, it was a few for each stage so you could rotate and not get bored.

Keep up the good work. take it slowly, you are re-learning to eat the right way now...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
