JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

Well I guess I am the first one here! I just got my surgery date and it is set for June 2nd at OHSU in Portland Oregon. I am so excited! It has been a long journey to get to this point and I am so glad to have a date even if it is almost 3 months out. Anyone else out there get a June 09 surgery date?

Hi all!

I just wanted to let you know that I had my surgery today and I am doing pretty good. I am sore only when I have to get up from the sofa and sleepy, but other than that all is well.

Hi everyone! New to the site, but trying to figure things out. Do you have room for one more? I was just banded on Monday (6/29) and doing okay so far. Some aching and pains when I move certain ways, but I think I'm starting to heal up and going easy on liquids right now. Just wanted to say hello!!

Of course we have room for 1 more. Welcome and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Today was my 2 wk weigh-in at home. I'm down a total of 21 lbs and have lost 32 inches all over my body!!!! Super excited! Next week adding more exercise so we'll see what happens.

Thanks!!!!

Congrats Lizandrk! Wonderful!

My stomach is totally growling today... loud! I think my pouch is full and underneath (the rest of my stomach) is growling! Is that normal? lol....

To me it is!! My stomach growled pretty much nonstop for the entire time I was on clear liquids, about a week and a half post-surgery! Once I was able to add protein shakes and yogurt to my diet, it settled down...

I had surgery on June 5th and was wondering if having lost 17lbs is about average??

HI! I started my preop 2 weeks before surgery and lost 7 pounds. Since surgery, I am down another ten (and starving I might add). I also have a total of 17 pounds since two weeks before June 12th surgery. Fill one week from today and can't wait!!!

I had surgery on the June 5th also and has lost 15 pounds since. I think any loss is great now before we have restriction.

Is it possible for me to still be having gas pain that travels to my shoulders and neck? My surgery was June 18 so on Thursday I'll be 3 weeks out. I've been thinking I reherniated a disc in my neck or that the torn rotater cuff in my left shoulder is sending referred pain there, but maybe not. The pain comes late afternoon if I've been standing or walking around. I can sit leaning back quite comfortably.

I had my surgery on June 11th with Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey, Mexico. Everything was wonderful and I have been doing following their dietary rules with no problems. It has been scary though how much I can eat now! I will be four weeks out this Thursday and am on soft foods, but as long as I chew well and drink with the food (which I was instructed to do at this stage) it all goes down so easily. Before I started tracking my calories and getting into my exercise routine though (last week), I was weighed and weighed the same as I did pre-op! I was stunned....although I think I really overdid it when I started on the soft foods and just took in too many calories so I only have myself to blame. Now that I am writing down what I eat and have been exercising daily I hope I will start losing. I was just shocked and pissed off at myself too see that I had not lost more. I think another aspect is that I was given the larger VG band with the 10cc balloon, so I think that large, lack of restriction is what has allowed me eat too much with no problems. Generally I am not too concerned though since I made an appointment today for my first fill exactly 6 weeks post-op and then the weight should start to come off. Anyone else able to eat a lot a few weeks post-op and think it may be partially due to the larger VG band? I am not complaining, I was just expecting more weight loss earlier and to feel fuller faster.
