all you guys that are a week or two post op, what kind of diet are you on at the moment and hows it going, I am 2days post op and started some thinned out blended Soup.< /div>

Had my two week appointment yesterday and Doc okayed me to transition to solids trying one new thing per meal. Scrambled eggs are a frequent meal. I've browned some ground chicken and mixed in some Tomato sauce and a little skim ricotta and parmasean to make basically a pastaless lasagna. Also had a turkey burger plain, no bun.

Steeler350, the first week I was on Clear Liquids, nothing else. This week I am on full liquids, which means Protein Shakes and Soups. I won't begin mushies till next week. For me it has not been an issue since yesterday was the first day I actually ate three meals. I have no hunger and have to make myself eat and drink.

Hey Guys

Still doing great. Been feeling a little hungry but managing it pretty well. Went to a support group meeting and witnessed a fill. It wasn't really a big deal but it was a big needle. I am currently sipping those Campbels Soup at hand, Protein, Jello, cream of wheat and the s/f pops. What I really miss is the crunch. I just want to be able to bite into something just for the feel. The highlight of my day are the chewable Multivitamins. Last night, my wife picked up some Wendy's and i asked her to bring me a baked potato. I took half, mushed it up and added some I cant believe its not butter liquid spray (zero cals) seasoned it with salt and pepper. It went down really good. Thinking of eating the other half for dinner tonight.

One thing I did learn at the support group meeting was that everyone is soooo different. There was a lady that ate 2 slices of pizza 2 weeks after her surgery. The doctor had to give her a major fill at 2 weeks. Some people eat everything in very small portions while others have a rough time with Pasta, bread, rice and chicken breast. I can't wait to have eggs. Not that I miss them but I feel that I need more of a variety of foods. The guy that had the adjustment in front of the group said he volunteered because he was a truck driver and that his band wasn't giving him any restriction. The guy had Burrittos and ribs without a problem. I guess that is a sign you need an adjustment. Good luck to the future bandsters!

I know it seems less than manly and there can be a lot of older folks but after my first two sessions, I'd like to throw out a vote for hydrofit/water aerobics as a convert. I thought it would be wussy, but my wife wanted me to start going so she would be committed to an exercise buddy. I don't have much problem getting myself to the gym, but my wife does so I thought I'd take one for the team to help her get going with her fitness goals.

The type of hydrofit/water aerobics I'm talking about is in the deep end of the pool, so there's no resting/standing. Pretty damn good 45-60 minute cardio workout (especially if you go faster/harder/more weight than the AARP crowd, no offense to those present here:biggrin:). The smoking hot instructor didn't hurt either.:P

Hi Guys, Well Mon was a snap. In at 10:30am and was home by 6:00pm. My wife had to pull over so i could throw up 1 time. Got home everything was fine. Tryed to take pain meds but threw it up. Got a good 12hr of sleep. Tues woke up with a pian in my leftside of my chest like i was having a Heart Attack. Spent the day tring to get some comfort. Doc said it was because of the air they have to blown into you while doing the surgey. I also was throwing up a mouthful for crap. But by 8pm i took some pain med it stayed down chest pain went away. Watched some King of Queen for 1 hr then hit the sack. Good in a good 10hr of sleep woke up fine. No pain. Feel Great. Its 12:30 pm and still feeling good. dranks some Water looking forward to my popsicle this afternoon.

How are the rest of you guys doing ?

Thanks for your good thoughts on Mon.:smile2:

I am jealous of the sleep you got, I only could get a few hours the first week. No so jealous of the throwing up. The worst is behind you in two weeks you will be moving on with your life.

I had my first follow-up visit yesterday all went well. Signed up for a Vemma Program it is super shot supplement drink, my doctor suggested it. I had lost another 1.5lbs since Thursday. I still have no hunger and only eat one meal a day with two Protein Shakes. Life is good. Oh, my scars are looking great , been doing the Maderma.

Updated for you guys. Its been a few hard days here. I can't keep down simple Water with out puking it up 5-10 mins later. Popsicle sugar free samething. I have to go back to the hospital on Fri for 2 1/2 hours so they can put fluids in me for the weekend. The Doc said i had swelling near the lap band that is causing this. And that it will go down in a week or so. I have gone from start of pre Op diet 336 and i'm now down to 308 as of today. I think this is the hard way so far. But i know it will get better. I get the hickups a lot do any of you ?

Well that all from here hope you are all doing good.

BigBossMan; WOW that sounds horrible. I had nothing like that , I though my heaving after surgery was bad enough. Are they sure that it is only swelling? My thoughts are with you and it will get better. Monday is Three weeks for me and I am eating food again, very little now, but still it seems more like a lifestyle. I do not have hiccups, but belch a lot and the doctor said it is from swallowing air. Hope you feel better soon and best of luck.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
