Preggy progress/Updates/Tell us how you're doing!

:thumbup:Hi guys! I know we have been keeping each other posted in various other threads, especially "Banded & Hoping to Get Preg", but since the title of that thread doesn't exactly give out the best info, I am starting a new one for all to post their fun pregnancy stuff, like how appointments go, how the baby is, when we find out the sex, due dates, etc etc!!

Here's my info for today!

We had our 13/14 wk appt today. I am very aware of my ovulation/menstrual cycle, so by my dates we are 13 weeks, however the docs say the baby is measuring 14 weeks. Whatever, it's gonna come when it's good and ready! We got to hear the baby's heartbeat today and it was good and solid, also fast. About 160 Beats per Minute, so there is a good chance the baby is a girl if you go off the heart rate literature. Lower rates like 120-145 BPM are often boys, higher rates from 150-180 BPM are often girls.

Other than that, all is well! I'm officially out of 1st trimester and had another lb lost, which is great as that means I technically didn't gain. The first few weeks I was starving so gained 4-6 lbs real fast, then the hunger tapered off and the band got kinda tempermental and tight on certain days, so I have lost what I gained...YIPPEE! Hearing the heartbeat was wonderful, it made it more real, just like our first ultrasound did.

I am sooooo happy to join this thread! This past Thursday DH and I found out that we are pregnant! I'm so excited, and scared all at the same time, it's really weird.

Congrats Tink, that is very exciting news! My husband and i are in the middle of our 2nd cycle trying so we're hoping to join you with a Spring 2010 baby!

Congrats Tink! We are preggo twins. I just got a BFP this morning (which gives me a March due date too) and I am excited beyond belief.

I am also a little scared of miscarriage (which is the downside of knowing this early) but I just have to hope everything will be okay. We went through a lot to get to this point, so I'm VERY protective of this pregnancy already.

Good luck Dewl! Your time is coming soon just keep up the good work (in bed-LOL)!

My son is nearly 3 weeks old and I got my lap band refilled last Friday. I was over tight and could not hold down any fluids all weekend. I went back on monday and got the fill removed, but in the mean time I developed mastitis.

I have a high fever and sore boobs :)

My doctor thinks it was my dehydration that caused or contributed to the mastitis. He said if you can't drink 3 litres of water a day, you can';t maintain breastfeeding.

So just word of advice for you all, be careful. I feel like absolute death:thumbdown:

I'm a lot scared of a miscarriage. I'm off of work for the summer, so I'm really taking it easy and trying like hell to keep the baby safe inside and growing.

Congrats girls. Wow, you both found out so early :smile2: Enjoy your pregnancy, try not to worry, I am sure everything will be fine

Cherry,

I am so sorry to hear of your mastitis.. I know thats so painful.. keep nursing it will help clear it up.

I am due in october with my second and I am nervous about getting a fill and BF as well.. I got the band while still BF my 1st and it was difficult to keep the calories up in the beginning. (your not susposed to dip below 1200) then she just slowly weaned.. which was fine because she was over 1.. but now with the new little one I want to make sure I can BF her solely.. so I am nervous.. I want to make sure I have a good milk supply, but I also am anxious to get going again with this band!

I pray you feel better soon.. are you still BF ? keep me posted on how your doing and any tips with how to make it all work together!

congrats Tink and Kissmygrits! Ill pray your babies are healthy and strong.. the first little while is nerve racking.. but it gets easier.. remember most all miscarriages are because of genetic abnormalities and not what the mom does or does not do.. so just eat healthy, drink lots of water, nap when you can.. and most of all relax.. the body is an amazing thing!

Dewl hang in there! both times I got preggo was when I stopped counting and trying.. 16 months it took for both! funny how that happens! people make it look so easy! just have fun and it will come

Thanks so much Shrink me. we seem to be doing better. The antibiotics have dropped my fever and my boob seems to be less red. Funny thing is Calvin still feeds well off both sides, it just feels like he is stabbing me with razor blades when he does it

Drinking lots of water is the most important thing for me to feel better, I am still eating less, but drinking lots of fluids and I seem to be on the mend. I think if I had my time again I would have waited a couple of months until I got my band filled. I was still trying to establish my milk when i got mine filled and I think it was a big mistake.

Having mastitis made me teary and also made me feel like I let down my family. I have a 3 year old who definately copped my grumpiness, poor thing

Anyway, thanks for your kind words:smile:

Well I am glad you are feeling better.. and thanks for the tip about waiting.. I think you are right.. its good to establish the milk supply first before looking at getting fills. hang in there and its good to hear you are still BF so many people get scared away by stuff like this.. so you are definately a strong woman for sticking with it!

I also just noticed you are from Perth.. my Hubby and I are thinking of going to a school there with Youth with A Mission.. are you familiar with them? its definately a few more years off..but its a definate possibility.

I'm excited, and nervous. I'm going to the Dr. for my yearly appointment. I hope the Dr. will tell me that everything to going great and the pregnancy looks good. However this is not my first prenatal appointment. I hope I can still get some questions answered though.
