    PREGNANT and devastated

I am sorry to hear that your pregnancy does not bring you joy. Its easy for me to say that you should have the baby and love it, but I am not in your situation and times are hard. You have options and you should consider every option. before you do, please remember : pregnancy does not mean you will return to being fat again. My son is 5 months old and i am 2 kilos below pre preggo weight, if I can do it then anybody can. But I know that times are hard and lets face it money is important  I think only you can decide what you should do. Good luck
  2. heather, I am so sorry for what you are going through and worst still, self pay I can't imagine having to go thorugh the op again and having to pay for it. It doesn't seem right you have to pay twice  All my positive energy is comingyour way and I wish you a speedy recovery and a more positive band journey this time round. How are you coping with a baby and recovering from surgery?
  3. I breastfed my first sonand I actually put on weight while breastfeeding  This time around I am breastfeeding aswell and I lost weight initially, but it has started to go up again. I know people say you lose weight with breastfeeding, but it never happened with me
  4. wow, congratulations Ejm, well done, enjoy this time, it goes so quickly. Hope all is well

    Pregnant with TWINS!!!!!!

Wow twins:ohmy: Congratulations. My only advice would be to follow the advice of your OBGYN and band doctor. They know best, good luck:smile2:

    Breast Feeding

I got a mil taken out and I do feel better, I can eat protein and drink lots of Water. I feel like I am a new person. I know I probably won't lose weight as I now hav ethe same fill as when I was pregnant, but for me, its important to breastfeed, so I will worry about my weight later.
  9. I need your advice.... I got my lap band refilled about 2 weeks ago, although I have started to lose weight again, I am getting leg cramps at night, the shakes and I have had a bout of mastits. I am also starting to feel emotionally unstable. My husband thinks I am not eating enough and thats contributing to my state of mind and also to the fact my baby does not seem settled. Both my obgyn and band doctor think I am eating enough. I really want to maintain breast feeding. My husband wants me to get my fill removed and say "screw" it to weight gain during breast feeding and worry about it later. What do y'all reckon

    Breast Feeding

Thanks for your advice Jackie. I wentto my Gp this morning and he said that I am definately ot eating enough, especially Protein, which can contribute to leg cramps and feeling blue. He recomended gettinga slight unfil and wrote down what i needed to be able to eat. He thinks that by not eatinga nd drinking enough my milk may be getting less which may contribute to having an unsettled baby. This is my second baby, the baby stage is so hard at the time, but when its over, its kinda sad its over:blink: Again thanks, hows your little one?

    Weight Gain

I would think if youa re doing all the rightthings then you have nothing to worry about. maybe you have alot of Fluid. A friend of mine put on loads of weight and she lost it all very fast, it was all baby and fluid. So if you aren't over indulging on the naughty things, then don't worry, just enjoy your pregnancy, good luck:thumbup:
  13. Thanks so much Shrink me. we seem to be doing better. The antibiotics have dropped my fever and my boob seems to be less red. Funny thing is Calvin still feeds well off both sides, it just feels like he is stabbing me with razor blades when he does it  Drinking lots of water is the most important thing for me to feel better, I am still eating less, but drinking lots of fluids and I seem to be on the mend. I think if I had my time again I would have waited a couple of months until I got my band filled. I was still trying to establish my milk when i got mine filled and I think it was a big mistake. Having mastitis made me teary and also made me feel like I let down my family. I have a 3 year old who definately copped my grumpiness, poor thing  Anyway, thanks for your kind words:smile:
  14. Congrats girls. Wow, you both found out so early :smile2: Enjoy your pregnancy, try not to worry, I am sure everything will be fine
  15. My son is nearly 3 weeks old and I got my lap band refilled last Friday. I was over tight and could not hold down any fluids all weekend. I went back on monday and got the fill removed, but in the mean time I developed mastitis. I have a high fever and sore boobs My doctor thinks it was my dehydration that caused or contributed to the mastitis. He said if you can't drink 3 litres of water a day, you can';t maintain breastfeeding. So just word of advice for you all, be careful. I feel like absolute death:thumbdown:
  16. I think it depends on the obgyn and your doctor. My band doctor and Obgyn did not want to take any out. It was their belief that not gaining weight during pregnancy would be more beneficial to me and the baby. He monitored my babies growth strictly and insisted I see a dietician every week with a detailed food diary. All went well until I was 21 weeks and could not hold anything down, so I had a partial unfil at my request and it helped alot. I gained in total 15 kilos (not sure of lbs, sorry) and I gave birth just over 2 weeks ago and I have been refilled and have lost half of that weight. I do have a friend whos doctor insisted she get totally emptied when pregnant. Her doctor said it was for safety reasons, incase they had to put a tube down her throat. So I guess its up to the individual. But I would recomend that if your band does get tighter and you can't hold anything down, get some taken out.........good luck
  17. I gave birth to my first son nearly 3 years ago, I was not banded at that stage and was 40 kilos heavier than I am now. My son was a big baby, close to 10lbs, he was posterior, I had a retained placenta and I heamoriged. It was an awful birth:thumbdown: My second son is now 15 days old (post band) he was an average baby, and a text book delivery with no complications. I pretty much was able to walk around straight after delivery, it was alot nicer than my first and I do put alot of it down to my weight loss.

    Aussie lapbanders - help please

I am in Perth so I can't help you with recomending a surgeon, but I hope your lapband journey improves, good luck
  19. I had my first fill yesterday since giving birth. I am feeling pretty tight, too tight and i am scared that natural childbirth has caused a problem with the band, that maybe it slipped with all that pushing  I was worried about breastfeeding, my dr told me that I was to eat no Breakfast, a can of tuna for lunch and fish and veges for dinner, problem is I can't even eat that. :smile2:
  20. Yes Calvin was born on July 19th at 2:47am, not as big as my first at 3.085 kilos, was a nice delivery, much wuicker and alot less awful than my first labor. He is doing well, is a good feeder, so fingers crossed breast feeding will work. Thanks for your well wishes. Will add pics when i figure out how to
  21. Had some sex this morning and sure enough a few hours later I got some bloody discharge and then about 3 hours ago started to experieince mild lower back cramping. I wouldn't say they are contractions as I can still function and have cleaned the house, so just taking it easy and waiting for them to increase. Its now 11pm and I am going to try to get some sleep, hopefully have baby soon :wink2:
  22. I am 39.5 weeks pregnant and so over it, I really want this baby to come now. I have cleaned the house, washed all the clothes and I am ready, and he won't come.....mmmm I am feeling very big and tired and can't wait to meet him and get my body back, no heartburn yay
  23. I have currently put on 15 kilos (about 33lbs) duringthis pregnancy. Alot of people keep telling me that if I breast feed it will all come off quickly. Except, with my last baby breast feeding wasn't that easy and its not always a guarantee of losing weight anyway:mellow: So I am thinking this thread will be good for some support after baby to get back on track. I am planning to get my band refilled pretty quick after I have my baby, I am planning on going up in small amounts though, i would hate to be overfilled and breastfeeding, that woudl be a nightmare.
