Preggy progress/Updates/Tell us how you're doing!

:thumbup:Hi guys! I know we have been keeping each other posted in various other threads, especially "Banded & Hoping to Get Preg", but since the title of that thread doesn't exactly give out the best info, I am starting a new one for all to post their fun pregnancy stuff, like how appointments go, how the baby is, when we find out the sex, due dates, etc etc!!

Here's my info for today!

We had our 13/14 wk appt today. I am very aware of my ovulation/menstrual cycle, so by my dates we are 13 weeks, however the docs say the baby is measuring 14 weeks. Whatever, it's gonna come when it's good and ready! We got to hear the baby's heartbeat today and it was good and solid, also fast. About 160 Beats per Minute, so there is a good chance the baby is a girl if you go off the heart rate literature. Lower rates like 120-145 BPM are often boys, higher rates from 150-180 BPM are often girls.

Other than that, all is well! I'm officially out of 1st trimester and had another lb lost, which is great as that means I technically didn't gain. The first few weeks I was starving so gained 4-6 lbs real fast, then the hunger tapered off and the band got kinda tempermental and tight on certain days, so I have lost what I gained...YIPPEE! Hearing the heartbeat was wonderful, it made it more real, just like our first ultrasound did.

Women who test positive for strep B, even if given the antibiotic in labor, their baby is closely monitored for 24 hours after birth for any signs of infection. My ob said even without antibiotic there is only a small chance, about 5 % of the baby actually getting it and even if they do, they are monitored and treated quickly, so it should be no big deal.

I think I have gone into worry over drive. I have been so relaxed and had such a carefree pregnancy that I have talked myself into believing something will go wrong

I am taking my son to his medical appointment today. He is nearly 3 and he still wears a hip brace at night after his bacterial infection in his hip when he was 18 months. The dr tells me today if all is clear from the xrays and he can stop wearing it at night...........I hope so :crying:

I had a doctor's appointment last Thursday and expressed some concern in that I was not feeling as much movement. They did a biophysical profile (fetal monitoring with straps around your midsection for 20 minutes along with an ultrasound and baby measurements) on the baby and she scored a 10 out of 10. The weird thing is, I could see her kicking on the screen but I couldnt feel it. How weird is that??? The tech said she is kicking into the placenta so that might be part of the reason that movement has gone down so much. Also she is too big to move around or change positions anymore.

Anyways, one thing I did find out is that she is very small. She is estimated at 5 pounds 7 ounces which could vary in either direction when she is born. That puts her in the 3rd percentile (meaning out of 100 babies she would be the 3rd from the smallest). Because of this, they now want to do ultrasounds and fetal monitoring every visit and the doctor wanted to see me a few days later rather than the usual week between visits.

She said if anything looked funny at all when I go in on Monday, she will want to induce me at that point . . . so maybe a baby on Tuesday but I am not sure.

My week has been a mix of good and bad. My son who is almost 3 got the all clear from his surgeon and he no longer has to wear his hip brace at night, which is great:thumbup:

On the down side, I seem to have become overly grumpy and slightly aggressive:huh2: I am obsessing about my weight and eating chocolate everyday. I have been snapping at my son and being way too unreasonable in my punishments. My husband and I are also fighting alot, and we never usually do. I am starting to worry about what life will be like with two kids.

I am also getting really big and have bad heartburn at night. I feel like i am out of control a bit, if that makes sense. :)

Cherry, so sorry you're having such an emotionally traumatic week. Try to remember that while it feels like it now, you will not feel or be this way forever. I'm sure being big and pregnant with a toddler hanging around would exhaust anyone! Is there any way you can get a day off of mommy duty by asking hubby or a family friend to keep kiddo all day while you have some fun? It could be as easy as getting a massage and then sitting in a coffee shop all afternoon, reading a book. Try to go easy on yourself and hopefully that'll also mean you'll go easy on the people around you, but either way, it will be ok soon! This is a temporary state.

Heather, that's good to hear everything is going well! I'm glad your little girl is doing well. I myself am starting to really think I have a lazy baby. I'm 32 weeks today, and he still hardly moves at all! Most of my friends are sick of the constant movement at this stage. He moves intermittently during the day enough so I don't worry, but I'd love a really active phase. Only hubby and 1 girlfriend have felt him so far...ugh! We see the new OBGYN today for the first time, so I'll be asking him.

YAY.... I have been a member on this site since '07 when I had my lapband. It's been forever since I posted anything because I found out I was pregnant and I just came across this post about pregnancies YAY I didn't even realize that there was one until today. So.... I am 28 weeks pregnant and I actually still have my full fill in. It has just recently become more of a chore to eat normally so I am going this week to have my band loosened. I was so nervous when I found out I was pregnant and just not knowing what that meant in terms of my band but it has been okay. I did have serious issues with violent morning sickness which was actually ALL DAY EVERY DAY sickness that actually lasted 4 months for me. I think it was really worsened by the band but who knows for sure really. Other than that I have had all sorts of pregnancy related issues but nothing because of the band and that has been a great feeling. It also helps that my OB/GYN had her surgery by the same doctor and she just went through her first pregnancy with the band!!

Hello Darby,

Congrats on the pregnancy . . . you don't really have that much more to go. :0)

I had an OB visit yesterday where they talked about inducing me the time before. Turns out that with the fetal heart monitoring and the ultrasound, the baby scored a 10 out of 10 so no need for being induced unless I really wanted it. She is still small, but as healthy as can be and I really didn't want to be induced, or did I?

Actually it is really strange that I have such mixed emotions. Of course I wanted everything to be perfect and for it to be unnecessary to be induced and to have control over it. So why did I feel sad about it afterwards . . . maybe I just was excited to finally see her or to be done toting around a huge whopping belly again after working so hard to get rid of it before, lol.

Oh well . . . I guess she will come when she comes and not a moment before.

So now everyday I wake up and think . . . is today the day??? I have a feeling this maybe one of the longest weeks of my life, lol.

Glad all is ok Heather and your baby is doing well. I understand the feeling of being completely over being pregnant hahaha. But I do think that the longer the baby stays in there, the better....for them, not for us anyway x

Your both right . . . :0)

My emotions are just a little out of sorts right now. I went home for lunch with my dh and starting crying because I didn't know what I really wanted to eat, lol. I didn't even have a good reason, nothing was wrong, but I had felt it coming on for a couple of days. I think it is just stress from working full time and being in graduate school while in my 39th week. I need a bit of a breather, lol. Isn't it the baby who is supposed to be crying, not me.

Laura, did you get emotional over nothing at the end?

Yup. :frown:

It's not only the hormones, but it's the anxiety building up.

Like you were so excited that today may be the day; then it's not.. so that can make you weepy.

Heather, I cried on the weekend because I spilt orange juice on the kitchen counter:sad: My husband looked at me like I was a lunatic.

I think for me I am so tired, I have bad insomnia and I just want to feel normal again and hold my little boy. My son keeps asking me when his brother gets here, he seems excited.

Only one week to go Heather, hang in there:thumbup: I have two and a bit, but my sister flys in on the 13th, so i really want to wait till then:rolleyes2:

Thanks Cherry_Blue & Gone_4_Ever,

I think I am leaking today which is quite a shock. It is definitely not urine, clear and odorless, looks like water, and it is not continuous either. It only seems to come if I change position (like standing up) but then stops. It seems to be somewhere around a tablespoon when it happens but has happened 4 or 5 times this morning.

Could this be it? My water never broke before and this is nothing like what I expected. There is no pain or anything to go along with it. I actually noticed it first when I woke up this morning and was laying in bed after hitting snooze . . . I just kinda felt a little wet all of a sudden and my first thought was that maybe I peed a little although it has not happened before . . . but I checked and I am sure it was not pee.

I got a call into my OB, I just havent heard back yet. I am not sure if I should get excited or not. I feel exceedingly normal this morning otherwise.
