:thumbup:Just checking in here too. I finally got another fill, since July. I had not lost any weight since August, and kept playing with the same pound (up and down; up and down).

With the fill, on October 20, I've already noticed I'm losing some.

Keep up the good work everyone!

You guys are all doing great! Congrats!

I was doing pretty good for a few weeks and now I seem to have lost my mojo. Have not lost anything for the past 3 weeks. I'm finding I pb, and get stuck occasionally, but I can eat way more than the cup of food they say we should be able to eat. I'm confused about whether I need a fill or if this is it? Man this thing has a learning curve I did not anticipate.

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted and thought I'd just check in. Sounds like you folks are doing great!

Things are going ok for me. I hit my first big goal on September 26th. I had wanted to be down 50 lbs by my friends wedding and I made it. :scared2: However, since then I have only lost 2 lbs and am so frustrated because I can't seem to keep them off- the scale keeps bouncing up and down by 2. It's kinda like I hit that goal and got stuck. I really need to step it up in the exercise department but am struggling. I guess I need to find something to inspire me again, kinda lost my "get up and go". What do u guys do to stay motivated? How is everyone else doing?

Hi Canadian Girl,

I can totally relate. I had a work function to go to and I really worked at it til then. I reached my mini goal and since then I seem to have stalled again. (those darn chocolate halloween treats go down way to easy!)

I think maybe the key is to set small goes for ourselves along the way. If I look at the big picture I get discouraged, but if I say to myself I want to lose five pounds by my daughters birthday, (which is 3 weeks away) then it's an attainable goal. I'll let you know if it works! I have not lost anything in the last 2 weeks.

Fish, I've taken to having those small individual cottage cheese containers with the fruit on the bottom in the car, if I know that I will be out and about. As an emergency, I carry a small small tuna can too. They come in different flavours: lime/jalapeno, mayo, sesame and ginger. They have a tab opener - no opener required.

Sept. 29/09 operation

-33 pounds down since

-BP meds cut - priceless

thanks for the food info. i am trying to eat Protein, and its pretty hard to get it all in. good thing i was going bald before lapband. losing some hair i think. cottage cheese is one good way thanks. ......ANYONE GOT BAD BREATH. WOW IS MINE BAD SINCE I GOT LAPBAND.

Going in for my FIRST fill (hopefully) on Tuesday Nov. 10th at 10:00. Anyone else going in for a tune up?

Personally, I can't even find/feel the port. :) Where the heck is it anyways? It's not under an incision. I'll find out Tuesday.

I understand that you shouldn't eat or drink beforehand. True?

I also hear that it's better if you do a partial sit up before they needle you. Agreed?

Hi Diva,

Good luck with the first fill. I'm sure it will be fine.

I sure don't have a problem finding my port! It's a massive lump under my skin and I can see it when I look at myself in the mirror.

They told me not to eat or drink anything for an hour before hand and to keep to liquids for a day after the fill. The half sit up seems to help with hitting the port.

Good luck let us know how it goes!

hey people just thought that i would update you with my fight with the goverment

i have asked some tought questions and i am not getting a responce as the goverment is telling me that they will pay for the proccedure in edmonton but when i asked how many people that they have reffered they wont answer that question because it would be putting themself in a legal situation i am assuming that is why they wont answer

Lap band manufactures have hired a company to solicite they big insurance companys such as great west life and blue cross waiting to hear back on that and once i get the final tally i am going to file suit against the goverment

I am 2 months post op this sunday and i am 60 pounds down with 50 more to go by summer i should hit my goal of 235 lbs

i am feeling much better and sleeping like a baby

Fergie:eek:

fergieis: Thanks for all you are doing! And man are you doing great on a personal level! Congratulations.

My first fill went well. Thanks for the encouraging words, Moonbeam. Had Dr. Andrews who put in .5. I'm up to 2.0 on the band but I find I'm hungrier. How can that be? Oh well, I think it means it's time for liquids and that stops the rumbles.

On a personal level, I'm totally off blood pressure meds! Talk about a personal triumph.

Seeing less of me...

Operation Sept 29

-down 38 pounds

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
