Just got my banding date, Jan. 15, 2009. Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. I live in Bucks County. Any other January '09 banders or Temple patients out there?

I too was band on the 8th. I am doing just fine and Yes I was worried. But nothing to worry about, it would be over very soon. It is wonderful to be banded.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone and soon you all well be on the band wagon.

Hi ya Peanut- did not realize we were bandits on the same day. Nice to be in good company. I feel good and have lost 20 pounds since my pre op diet on Jan 1.

all the best while you heal

Welcome back, KelsieJoy! Glad everything went well for you.

Lena

Hi Lena

thanks, its nice to be on this side of the surgery. Discovering its not so bad. Its nice not to feel hungry anymore and I have already lost 20 pounds. I am very excited.

Enjoy your day

I started pre-op diet today and am drinking my first protein shake as we speak...gotta tell you, smells and tastes, well, not so good. 1 week till surgery!

I am so happy for you kelsiejoy. I am glad to hear you are doing fine. I too was band on the 8th and my recovering is going just fine. I had my first appointment today with my doctor (follow up) all looks great! When is your follow up?

Oh forgot to mention my follow up is Jan 22nd but saw my primary care doc yesterday . My blood pressure was too low in the hospital so I was told to go see hime. He took me off my blodd pressure meds! That is when I found out I lost 20 pounds. Yippie. :tt2:

Wow, you are off your blood pressure meds already? That is amazing. Keep up the good work. You are definitely on track.

Hi! I'm getting banded Friday January 16th by Dr. Schlesinger in Phoenix. I was supposed to have surgery the 22 but the moved my date so I'll only have a week of the pre-op diet, and I must tell you, I'm happy about that! :sneaky:

How do I get one of those cute little tickers you all have?! Good luck to everyone!

I was banded on Friday January 16 and have never been happier! Surgery was great and simple. I have had no complications and no pain. I was back to work by Tuesday since Monday was a holiday for my work. I am so happy for all of us who are on our way to a new "us"!! Good luck to all the up and coming bandsters.

Hey everyone. :crying:

I got banded yesterday! :tt2: Doing great this morning. No complications, everything went very smoothly.

I've never had surgery, so this was an experience..LOL. The surgeon was great (Dr. Marvin in Houston) and the nurses and staff at Methodist Hospital couldnt have been nicer.

I have a little pain in the left shoulder and my mouth is really dry - but thats it. I'm not hungry and my port site isnt hurting at all. I took some pain medicine last night, but havent needed it since. Those Gas-X strips seem to help the shoulder pain.

I cant wait to see the results - Ive been at this since last May, but so glad I stuck with it and got it done! Hope everyone else's surgeries go just as smoothly.

Good luck everyone!

Hey all!! Just found this post. I was banded last Friday 1/16/09 by Dr. Haag in Springfield, MA. Everything went very smoothly. Everyone at BMC was excellent. The extent of the gas pain surprised me a little, but that has been the only negative. They said that it could take 1-2 weeks to totally eliminate the gas. I don't think the sugar free drinks, ie., crystal light, etc. that I was drinking helped any. I've always had a problem with them giving me gas anyway. I just didn't put 2 and 2 together.

Good luck to everyone! Let's all keep in touch through our journey! :tt2:

Hello Everyone, well it's been 2 weeks since I was banded and tomorrow I get my staples removed. My blood pressure has already dropped enough to cut my medication by more than half. I've lost 21 lbs and I'm absolutely thrilled. Good luck everyone

I was banded January 14. The gas pain is totally gone and the pain at my port side has pretty much gone away. I'm a little concerned, because i've only lost 8 lbs since the 14th. I lost 20 lbs on the pre op diet, but I haven't lost anything since Thursday. I'm still on a liquid diet, and having minimal calories, so I don't see why I'm still not dropping any lbs. It's a little frustrating because I was doing so well before. Anyone else notice any plateaus?
