Any February 2009 Bansters?

Recommended Posts

Well, I accidentally swallowed a chunk and I still feel uncomfortable, I believe the words are It's stuck. Anything I can take to get unclogged besides Draino (just kidding). Help!!

My nutritionist advised me that if food gets stuck you should "walk" it off. That works better than liquids. Thankfully, I haven't had it happen yet. Good luck!

Hi all february bandsters,

i was banded feb 25th. i am hungry, but starting to eat soft small meals. as i understand it, i will be hungry till my first fill in 5 weeks and this is called banster hell! i fell like the band was placed but no or very little restriction. i have had no trouble with soft foods and little discomfort. i cant wait till my first flouroscopy so i can make sure i have the band in there-(joking)

is this true? is it normal to be hungry till your first fill? is this how it works? i have been told the first 6 weeks are about healing and the weight loss really begins after the first fill. i am the same weight as the day of my surgery, ???

oh well- happy in texas!!

liz

I was banded on Feb 26th and feel back to normal-even took my son's out for lunch today and ordered a cup of soup- I always wondered who ordered a "cup" instead of a bowl!! Now I know-the bander's. I am tired of liquids but have lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks. Between the liquid preop and liquid postop diets. Just read somewhere that I may not ever tolerate bread again. I hope that isn't true.

I had my surgery January 12th!! My problem is I did not get a fill untli last Wednesday, and it was only 1cc. I fell like I can eat as much as I could before the surgery. Also, Since I came off of liquids aftery sugery, I have not lost any more. All of my weight was lost in the preop diet and the week or so after surgery. It is discouraging!

I was banded Feb 24th. I went back to work in two days, but I really haven't felt great until today. I go tomorrow for my post op appt and start mushy food. I definitely feel hungry, although the broth from a can of progresso Soup filled me up at lunch today. I think at this point I just miss biting into something!

Wow you were banded on the 25th and already get to have soft foods? I am jealous. I was banded the 27th, and was told to 7 days Clear Liquids, 7 days creamy liquids then on day 15 I can start soft foods.

The hunger is hard to get used to. I am drinking A TON of crystal light and chicken broth all day long.

Good luck on your journey.

I can't believe you are back to work already:eek:! Day two I was still on Percocet liquid. That's great:thumbup:. I worry about doing too much to fast but maybe I should be stepping it up a notch. When did everyone start exercising besides walking around the house?

I was banded 2/13, saw the doctor for my first post op visit 2/24, and he told me I could begin working out as I was able...not to strain myself or do too much, but to do as much physical activity as I felt comfortable. I was walking the day after surgery, and around the block 2-3 days after. I was banded on a Friday and went back to work on a Tuesday.

Try chewable Gas-X, I knew about the gas pains and started chewing those 2 a day, and never felt them :)

Wow you are just like me, I was banded 2/13, have lost 15lbs post op, and my first fill is 3/10...the fill should be nothing compared to the nerves you had at surgery...you'll be fine, keep up the good work!

Hi everyone. Just had my visit last night with my doc after being banded last Tuesday. I also went to his support group meeting last night. It was good to be in a room with ten people like me, all at different stages of the process. Two people had not yet had the procedure, two were more than a year out, and the rest were at various stages. I'm starting mushy food now, and I feel great. Only 8 pounds down after a whole week of liquids, but it is a start! Good luck to everyone starting this road like me..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
