Lee – Diarrhea came this morning, it’s not too bad but pretty gross. Otherwise I’m doing well. A little hungry but aren’t we all. I’ll weigh myself tomorrow, should be close to 10 pounds down a week after surgery.

Pat – Congrats on the weight loss!

Hi swishbc!

Still waiting for the rain…

Hi Swish!

John, pouring rain here. food is not my friend, even in 1/4 cup increments. I've had nothing but the runs since last night. I'm backstepping to Clear Liquids for today. I have zero hunger at this point. I'll come clobber you if you've lost 10 pounds. I bet I lose 5 for your every 10. Grrrrr..... MEN!

Maria I talked to Dr. Baggs this morning and they cancelled the appontment before I could tell them I was waiting for you. I did tell Kelly to hold the appointment for you but she didn't promise. I didn't plan to cancell I just wanted to talk to Dr. Baggs and he forwarded me to Kelly and she rescheduled me right than. So Maria call quick I also left a message on your voice message letting you know.

I am going back during my vacation in March so I won't have to take a day off work. With layoffs this week and all the budget hearings it is bad, bad timing to ask for a day off. Dr. Baggs does want to see me regardless if I get a fill or not ..............??? So I will go either way in March.

I talked to Dr. Baggs about layoffs and he said to keep him updated. He said I could go COBRA and still get fills probably cheaper than through a fill center. I think he is right. I didn't really want to tell them but he asked why I was cancelling and I was honest.

Candra I get those headaches too but 4 days is to much. Could it be sinuses. I need to get that sinus surgery cause I have an ongoing sinus infection that is causing headaches but don't want to take time off work right now. Once things calm down at work I will follow up.

Ok back to work.......

Hi Lee- I’m doing ½ cup of cream of chicken. I sometimes get some pressure in the stomach if I have it too fast. Burping usually comes next. I have never been a burp’er but something tells me that is going to change. Not drinking after a meal is going to be a big change. I find myself sipping now after a meal but I have to remind myself not to have anything. I’m only hoping to be down 10 pounds, feels like I should be but we’ll see tomorrow. Bring on the rain, still nothing here.

Candra - I am so sorry about the Migraine. You have all my sympathy. I sure do know what you are going through - I've had them since I was a teenager. Mine were like that at the height of my going through menopause, but I think you are too young to be doing that. They do have a headache specialist at Kaiser - there is one in San Rafael. I went to her and she put me on another preventive medication. She is also big on diet - eliminating processed food, aged food like cheese and vinegar. She makes you read the book Heal Your Headache by David Buchholtz. The preventive medicine didn't really help me but I know it has helped some people (it gave me bad side effect)s but it is worth trying to get a referral, some of the diet stuff did also seemed to help - like no chocolate and no wine. I have to say since I went on the 1200 cal diet I have had almost no Migraines and the couple I did get I was able to stop with 1 dose of the Maxalt. I ended up being out of work for a month with them when they were at their worst - during that month I had 3 days without a headache. So try to get to Kaiser and ask you PCP for a referral to the specialist.

Today is the first day I actully feel like I lost some pounds! Yippee...I could never believe the scale when it said I lost because I felt the same but today I feel like there's a little less of me. Still no one has noticed but that's ok...there is so much of me it will probably take 40 pounds before someone notices.

Have a great day!:)

So back and I did Panda Express AGAIN!! I had chow mein, and Orange chicken.< /span>

I called the corp. office and asked them how many oz is the smallest box I order, and they said 8oz, but it depends because yeah 8 oz of noodles can fit, but orange chicken is big so it may not be that much, but all in all I am looking at 16 oz of food in one sitting. plus my 2 fortune Cookies.< /span>

I am concerned about this...yeah I felt full after and still do, but how do I know my stomach isnt stretched?!

Tamra,

Why are you doing this to your pouch? Why do things that you fear are not good for you? If you have to ask, you already suspect that you're doing wrong. May I suggest you back off from Panda Express. We're taught to use a measuring cup because of the difference in weight/volume of food. Have you tried measuring? Are you at the one cup per meal stage now? Have you considered the classes at Kaiser to help you get a handle on compulsive eating? For me, the best tools that I learned were in Overeater's Anonymous, which is free. It helped understand what compulsive eating is and how to live on a food plan. I'm going to be very bold here and suggest you get a handle on this now before it's too late.

For all of us, I think it's really important to learn good eating habits right out of surgery to help with a lifetime of success.

Ali – Congrats! Yes some weeks you loss pounds and other weeks you loss around your waist. It wasn’t until I lost 30-40 that people started to notice.

Tamara – You need to make better choices! With the band it’s all about weighing your food. Sleeve it’s all about portion size. Get back on track now as you risk not getting fills! You can do it!!!!

It started to rain!! Yeah! Only been off work a week, what am I going to be like in a couple weeks? haha

Thanks John. This journey has been a long one and rough, but I will get to my goal sooner or later, I wont quit!

I put some chicken in the over for dinner, going to have some with maybe another piece of my toast, since I have 1/3 left...LOL....we will see...

Right now I am craving WATER!!! going on my 2 mile walk also, I have been walking almost EVERYDAY and I loose a lb every time! It's awesome!

Writting out my food logs now because when I see baggs and Robin I don't care if I dont get a fill, it's going to be MY FAULT so I take what I get, period. It teaches me a lesson.

Tamara,

Hang in there, you will get it. Lifestyle changes are hard in all aspects. I love your honesty and that keeps all this real and keeps you accountable.

You have lots of people here on your side that will get on your case for good reasons. You are at a tender stage and have come along way--don't go backwards-- fill or no fill.

Keep walking! Everyday your one day closer to goal.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
