Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Recommended Posts

Wait is Orientation different than the required Kaiser "Weightloss Surgery Overview" .. I've signed up for that one but I am looking at my online appointment guide and now also see I am signed up for one labeled orientation as well. Do I need to do both?

Also here you can email me and I will send you the recipe i make for my Breakfast, it is very yummy only about 141 cals.. and full of Protein.

Back when I had surgery in 2008 I only went to Orientation, but since then they have people go to the Weight Loss Overview and then Orientation. Are you going through Richmond?

My main hospital is Santa Rosa, my Overview is in Santa Clara and my Orientation is in San Francisco LOL To bad - it would have been so nice to find this board and people going to the same classes as me!

TaraRose, I'm in Santa Rosa & did my overview there, plus the 14-week class (which I HIGHLY recommend!!) there. I did my orientation at Richmond. Email me! :-)

They discovered that half of the people that went to the orientation class never came back, so now everyone at Richmond has to go to the 2 hour overview class before being registered for orientation. I think they try to scare us off at the overview so that they won't waste their time with people that aren't serious.

Good luck with your process. :)

Just wanted to say hi to everyone! I was sleeved in SSF on 11/29 and am doing great! I went back to work this past Monday and am really happy to have done this. I want to come to the Point Richmond support group next time, but cannot remember when it is. I hope to see everyone soon!

Glad to hear you are doing great after your surgery. If I remember right, the Point West group meets the 4th Saturday of each month.

Hey guys! I'm with Kaiser in Modesto and attending the WLS overview in manteca on the 18th. My PCP said to email her after I'm done with the class and she'll refer me to a surgeon, I know you guys didn't go through kaiser in the central valley, but i can't find anyone else on this entire website closer to my area than you guys! I just have no idea what to expect.....I read about 12 week classes or 6 month classes or hoops and hoops that have to be jumped through but it seems kaiser nor cal works different than that? i was hoping to be banded by april but i don't know if that's a feasible goal.........any thoughts? when my pcp says she'll refer me to a surgeon after the overview class, what does that really mean? (i was expecting to have to go to a psychologist, nutritionist etc..,...)

thanks in advance!!!! can't wait!

Hi Riley,

I joined WW back in October before the switch to the new plan which happened at Thanksgiving. I found that I can't lose an ounce following the guidelines but the points allotment is good. Last week I switched over to Atkins Induction level of carbs and had a much better week. I was happy to maintain my weight between Thanksgiving and New Years but now it's time to get these last pounds off.

How far are you from Lifetime? I don't remember how tall you are. I need to be 146 to be at Lifetime so I have a ways to go!

Just checking in to say hello and see how everyone is doing? It's way too quiet around here. Has everyone moved to a different lapband site? I spend my time over on Obesityhelp . com because there are a lot of Sleevers over there, but I like to keep track of my friends over here.

For any of you in the area, a reminder that this Wednesday is the Kaiser Support Group from 6-7:30. On Feb 16th one of the 4 surgeons will be speaking. That should be fun. My one year surgery anniversary is on the 17th. I can't believe how quickly this year has flown by.

I'm still working my way towards goal! :)

The BAND-ONLY support group in Sacramento meets next Saturday, Feb. 19th, 2011!

ALL LapBanders are welcome! Even if you are pre-surgery!!!

Sacramento Valley Bandsters Support Group

third Saturday of every month from 10:30-12:30.

Sutter Cancer Center

Classroom 1, First Floor

2800 L Street, Sacramento

Easy parking is available one short block away in covered lot on 29th Street, between K and L streets. This costs $1 per hour. There is also street parking on the blocks surrounding the area that use a meter to park. I think its approx. 25-cents per 15 min. increment of time.

This group was purposely set up so as NOT to conflict with the other support groups in the area.

Any and ALL band patients; from ANY doctor or hospital are welcome to attend.

Please join us!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
