Hello all!! So glad I found this thread!! My date is January 6th and I have a 3 hour class tomorrow that is supposed to tell me everything I need to know. Looking forward to getting to know all of you

NJGirl~ How did your class go??

Any good info you can share??

I'm having a bit of insomnia suddenly. I'm slightly anxious/excited/nervous about this process.

I'm more scared about the actual surgery than the aftermath... this can't be any worse than anything I've done before. I took the whole week off as well, we will have to be email buddies. Did you have to get off caffeine? I'm off it now for a few weeks and trying to lose 5 pounds before my preop class but, that isn't going very well...

GOOD LUCK

Hi everyone, I am a newbie and getting banded in January by Dr. Ferzli in NYC. Still waiting for date and hoping it will be soon! I am trying so hard not to gain any more weight and looking forward to my two weeks pre op to get focused; the holidays are killing me! Is there a name for the group yet; how about 'New Year Bandettes??' I am so excited and nervous too about the op and post op, and so glad there are friends here to share with; feel free to email me!

What kind of class do you have to do njgirl1980? I didn't have any classes to do at all. I just seen a couple of people for maybe 30 mins if that.

Yes we have a name and it is New Year Hotties. I think this was done about the 3rd or 4th page of this forum.

I am getting scared the closer I get to my date which is January 6th at 8am in the morning. I asked my doctor if he drinks coffee, he said yes he does. I told him to make sure he has a lot than for the 6th. He just laughed at me. And said it well be just fine.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys. Well the pre-op class was indeed 3 hours long and basically it was just an overview and instructions on how our lifestyle change is going to be after the surgery and what to expect the day of the surgery and then we met with the surgeon again to go over any last questions.

I have to not eat the day before surgery and just be on Clear liquids for the 48 hrs. following surgery and then full liquids for a few weeks, than mushies until 6 weeks and then I see the surgeon and he will discuss solid foods.

I really could have done without all of the info about the operating room. I know I am going to be fine but I still worry.

Sorry so long, let me know if you have any specific questions and I will try and remember if they answered them.

Hey Peanutband -

I'm also getting banded on the 6th. And, since you bring up the topic of coffee  I know we have to give up caffine during our healing process and quite honestly I'm worried about the caffine withdrawals - you know the headaches, shakes, etc! I'm a coffee fiend and for the first 2 weeks I can't have any coffee - even Decaf. SO, does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with the no caffeine??:scared2:

.

Chrissy, I think it's normal to be apprehensive before a surgery. {{HUGS!}}

I have never been in an operating room before, so I am nervous too. And I don't even have a surgery date yet! LOL!

So, do you have to do a two week pre-op diet? I have noticed some folks do a 2 week, some have a month pre-op diet, etc. Just curious.

daqui26 and njgirl1980, thanks for the information. I think that class would be very cool. My doctor only has the seminar that we have to be in.

wtbgone - on the coffee issue, I really don't know what you can do about the withdrawal. Can you start weening yourself back. I am sorry.

Hey No problem! After I replied to your post, I found a huge number of posts on the caffine problem under the post-op questions forum.

This is just such a cool website, isn't it? And, I'm sure after the surgery I will become even more dependent on all the wisdom that's captured here!

Blessings to everyone and a Merry Christmas!

Originally I was going schedule my LB for Dec 29. I have had my psych eval and medial clearance. I still need to have my stress echo done before my PCP will give me full clearance. I am now waiting until after Jan 1 due to my out of pocket and co-pay for insurance. If I pay it now, it will be due again in Jan . I am hoping to get scheduled before the end of Jan.

Where is everyone from? I am from SW Michigan.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
