New guy from Ohio - Surgery Scheduled!

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I've been meaning to get on some forums but I've just been so busy with life. I'll start with the basics.

I'm Bill (or Billy). I'm 25 years old. I've been overweight all my life (atleast ever since I could talk. . . grandma and mom loved feeding me bisquits and gravy!). Anywho, this year I got married and my wife and I found out we were having a baby early this year. . . she's due NEXT MONTH!!! (SO EXCITED!)

So after I found out the good news, I started researching weight loss options. I've never wanted to lose weight more than I do now. I want to be an active and healthy father, and be here as long as I can be for my wife and daughter. With that said, after doing all the research, I chose LapBand.

Fortunate for me, I am under Federal BlueCross BlueShield. . . I started the process in October, and have been completely finalized and scheduled for surgery for November 24th!!! (12 DAYS AWAY!!!).

I'm very excited about my journey I'm about to take. I tell ya what though, day two of this pre-op is KILLIN ME!! But I can and WILL do this!!

Hope to get to know all of you and share my journeys ups and downs here.

Regards,

-Bill

Hi Billy,

Congratulations on your baby and surgery news. This is very exciting for you, lots to look forward to for a bright healthy future with your new family. I'm from cleveland, and I am waiting any day to hear from the insurance, once I get the go ahead my dr said it will be this year, likely december?

Where are you having your surgery? Are you scared?

Best of luck to you,

Bellamama:wink:

Hello Pontiac man..l too live in Mass and Have federal B/C and B/S...when you get your bill from the hospital, make sure you go over it..They were trying to charge me $4,000 for the lap band..a small piece of plastic, stating its billed as durable medical equipment..l have been fighting them as there is nothing in the book that states this, nor anything in my approval letter..l was expecting a bill for $100.00 for the hospital, not $4,000...So many others l work with have had the procedure done and didn't get a bill like mine...l haven't heard from thenm in a couple of weeks so maybe they have figuared it out...HEADS UP...

Thanks all. I'm doing better now that I've bee able to rest quite a bit. Certainly doesn't hurt having a nurse as my wife who took a couple days off to be with me :) Heck if it wasn't for her I probably woulda never went through with it. Still in the pain phase. . but I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones and that stops within a few days. Everything else has went so perfect. :P

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
