Jamie Girl... Fire Doll... How are you guys doing??

Hi Heather! Thanks for thinking of me! :tt2:

Slow and steady wins the race, isn't that what they say??? Well, my 2nd fill was 2 weeks ago today, and I've lost 4lbs since then. By my standards that is FABULOUS! I'm starting to get hungry faster though, so I know that within a week I'll be ready for another fill.

And can I just be honest? This really bites. My surgeon (and my fill doctor, obviously) is in Denver, and I'm in NC. So I'm flying to Denver for every fill, and my next fill is 3 weeks from today. It's expensive, but worth it to me in the long run to have my surgeon be the one I'm getting fills from. I was self-pay and could not afford to go locally.

My ticker shows my weight loss from the day of surgery. If you take the average, I've lost about 1.7lbs per week, which is right smack dab in the middle of what I'm supposed to be losing. My surgeon tells me not to be down on myself and tells me I'm doing great. He also reminded me that I'm starting out smaller than a lot of other band patients, and as a result I won't lose as fast as others that started off bigger. I'm OK with that. Losing slowly is healthier. I'm just ready for my clothes to start fitting looser. The only place I can tell I've lost weight is in my face. :crying:

It's great to hear from you.. Yes "Slow and Steady " Does when the race so we are in this Marathon together. Mine averges to 1.9 a week.... Wish it was more but all good things come to those who wait... Right?? lol .. Well Darn it I'm WAITIN !!!. Trying to keep my eye on things and not get bored with food.. Trying to spice things up i went out and bought the Biggest Looser cookbook to try different things. I started being consistant with workouts and I'm really hoping to get up the courage and the stamina to run on the treadmill... still to vain:blushing: don't people laughing.

It sucks that you are a plain ride away... Have you read the thread that someone started on " Self Filling"??? Not something I could do !!! I di hear from my dr. that people that have 100 or more to loose can loose it faster and then there are those lovely men who seem to shed it faster then we ladies do.:tt2:

:thumbup:Keep your head and keep up the good work....

we would astound ourselves.

I haven't hit my "sweet spot" yet! I am hungry every 2 hours like clockwork!!! I just had my 2nd fill - I seem to be able to eat anything still. I just want my portion size to go down and be full for 3 hours instead of 2.

Hey everyone~I've almost made it. I get my second fill on tuesday and i cant wait!!!! i got my first fill on 12/22/08 had had no restriction and it has been a struggle. I have been at the gym 5 days a week and eating a healthy diet but my portions arent as small as they shoudl be and my restriction is next to none. I am hopeful that after i talk to my doc that she gives me more of a fill. and i pray that at the very least i havent gained any weight!

Am I the only one out there who feels restricted after only one fill? I have 3 ccs in a 10cc band and feel full, sometimes over full, after only 1/2 cup of most anything. My weight loss is great, I think. 41 lbs. 32 inches overall.

You're going to the gym 5 days a week and eating a healthy diet......I think you're doing great!!!! Just hang in there with this healthy lifestyle even though you feel your portions are too large. Once you have restriction, that will change. Good luck with your fill!

That's fantastic, too! They say that you shouldn't compare yourself to others, because everyone's anatomy is different. Your stomach wall may be thicker than mine. Who knows? I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I hope you don't feel guilty. It gives me hope to hear that you are doing so well!

I haven't lost any weight since January 5th. I've gotten into a weird, nasty, habit. I've started to stay up very late at night on the internet (porn, JK!) til about 3, 4, 5 a.m.. When it's the middle of the night, I feel like I'm in a different world and nothing matters. I end up eating crazy stuff, like honey and sugar right out of the bowl. Then the whole next day I have a "hangover". It's not every night, but often enough to really screw up my body and my psyche.

Okay, Jaime. I'm ready to have my ass kicked now. Seriously, it's okay. I can't believe I've gone through all of this time and pain, not to mention money, just to indulge in this behavior. I need to get my butt in bed at 11:00, so that I can wake up in the morning and still be okay.

I haven't talked about it much, because I feel like I'm the only one that is screwing up this badly. I'm afraid that I'll be written off as "one of those" that is just not ready to follow the rules. I don't want to write myself off. I don't want to see myself as a lost cause, or an addict that refuses help. I don't want to live like this anymore. Is there a lapband rehab center???

Hey suzannek,

Your not the only one.I was so glad to see your post.I too only have .05cc (not even 1cc)with one fill and have good restriction too.I've lost almost 45lbs also.So we're in the minority but not alone! I too was starting to wonder. My surgeon says"Were ahead of the curve!":biggrin:I would like to know more like how far out you are from surgery & what type of things you eat??Do you exercise??Do tell...take care!! Aww, you all think I'm just someone who waltzes in here to give you hell and then leave. I'm not going to yell at you, as I've been struggling myself and really there's no point in yelling or giving stern advice on here. We're all adults and will do what we please.

I pray that you get back on track, just as I pray that I can get back on track as well.

Heather

Wow are states and band date are almost the same! I see you are doing great, just wanted to say keep up the good work!

Glad to hear everyone is well!! I am doing ok but a little frustrated. I know we shouldnt compare ourselves but I was banded 11/10 I have had 3 fills, I am up to 6.5 in a 10cc band. I have restriction and I am really not eating too much and I have been working out daily but the scale is not moving. I am down to sizes when it comes to my clothing but yet the scale doesnt move. Any thoughts??

Lacasst,

You stats are wonderful!! Congrats!

I had my first fill last Friday and I can really feel restriction...especially in the morning. My scales said I'm down 30lbs as of this morning. I'm very happy with that.

I've only exercised 2x this week. I've had a horrible cold that's settled in my chest...now I've just got the cough.

How often do you exercise and what type of exercise do you do?

I seem to have plateaued. It has been near 3 weeks since my fill. I think I lost 4 pounds in the first 5 days and then a pound in the week following, but then nothing since. I reached a weight I was at for about 5 years when I ate low carb and I think it will be difficult to get past it. I am going to really try hard though!! I am getting hungrier and can eat more, but don't think I eat all that much total in a day. I really can't afford another fill yet! I have an appointment for late Feb.

Aww, Ginny. I know what you're going thru. My hubby works till midnight and I, too, had gotten into the habit of staying up (often till about 1 or 2), then have to get up with kids at 630. Although I wasn't eating too much bad stuff, I was eating more, I think because I was tired, so I ate to spike my blood sugar and stay awake. It was AWFUL breaking that habit of staying up late. I'd go to bed at 10 and just lay there.

I still have issues with having a "bad day" here or there, where I eat something stupid, like white pasta--and I can see a difference on the scale for the next couple of days. It's very difficult for me to give up the white stuff--but I keep trying. So, don't beat yourself up, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get on with it. Everyone has a bad day here and there and you shouldn't chastise yourself. Just move on. I know you can do it!
