"Head" hunger/eating when bored...

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else having the problem is dealing with the "head" hunger and/or eating when bored? I know these were both problems for me before I had surgery, but I feel like they are worse now.

Does anyone have any strategies for not eating when you're bored or trying to beat out the "head" hunger? I think that consuming these extra calories when I don't need them has something to do with not being able to lose the weight that I want to.

Oh most definitely. It's a constant struggle for me. And what makes it worse, is my one son is disabled so I have to feed him all the time. If I don't think, I will take a bite here and there. But I have to learn to think. The boredom is a challenge, so I try to keep my hands busy. Either online (don't allow food near the pc), or with crafts I am doing. The head hunger... so far I've tried drinking Water. Sometimes it helps, other times it doesn't. Last night at support group they suggested a sugar free Jello cup. I'll be trying that soon.

good luck

 Hi guys - one website that I've found that helps me is Shrinkyourself.com but there is a fee to go through the course... and it really is more about emotional eating, but I have fallen in love with it. Here's a couple of things I do to try and stop mindless eating "head hunger" from getting a hold of me... take a bath, sweep the floor, brush and floss my teeth, brush the dogs... anything BUT give in-particularly at night. And now I have set myself a firm and fast rule - absolutely NO food after 8PM to help with that evening food frenzy...

Good luck with it - here for you anytime!!

PS - CONGRATS TO BOTH OF YOU on your AWESOME LOSSES!!! I fought the whole Bandster Hell thing for a long time - just had my first fill this past weekend and I am DEFINITELY feeling it so now I can't wait for the "real" losing to get moving...

I am finding that I have problems with getting bored at work (which is easy since I am still in training, can essentially do nothing but read and have no one to "officially" train me) and also with the head hunger. I'm having a hard time fighting off the head hunger, which happens a lot when I'm bored.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
