Not been having a problem with the Boost at all. Making sure I am drinking a lot of Water to keep me full. Couldn't go out for dinner for my birthday as I don't think the local Bistro carries Boost but not a problem.

Hi all. My referral is being sent by my family doctor this morning. Can someone give me an indication of the current wait time?

I have been on the list since 2004. Seriously. Started on the list for a doctor in moncton, secretary told me there was an 6-8 year wait for moncton doctor. They transferred me to Dr Savoie a couple years back so it would go faster. I saw him for the first time mid-december. My next session is mid-march.

I have been "practicing" the boost thing, been on it for 3 days now and i am so so so surprised that i am NOT hungry! The hard part of it i find is trying to feed the family while on boost. But I have to change my eating habits, we all have to start somewhere.

Wow, Rosie Sue, that's a long time to wait. I've also bought Boost out of curiousity, I guess.

I can't wait that long. If the sale of my house goes through, we're using the profit to get it done in Toronto.

I am a November 2008 referral but previously had been waiting since 2002. When they called to see if I wanted to switch doctors I had a call within two months. I have my surgery next Wednesday.

How lucky Sweets!!! Now you will have to update us and let us know how it's going! And how are you making out on boost? I see by your ticker that you lost a good bit of weight already, how did you manage that, can I ask? Plus, almost 2 years from the first time you saw Dr Savoie till surgery? Did you have to lose weight before he operated you? Sorry for all the questions, but I am SO impatient! I can't wait to get it done!!

Thank you and no problem ask away. Many on here have been wonderful and supportive and have helped make this journey a positive experience. As for the weight I have been up and down for years but I finally seemed to start losing last spring. I made some major lifestyle changes and began using the T-Zone at our local gym. I also started to use diabetic boost to prepare and replace meals I often skipped. My fingers are crossed that this journey continues because for once in my life I am excited to get on the scales. Family, friends and co-workers have been extremely supportive. I have been creative with my boost by adding Water and ice in a blender and drinking plenty of water through out the day. I have fallen in love with my recliner I purchased for my surgery to be able to sleep upright for a few days. Added high definition on my TV just in time for surgery and the Olympics. The opening ceremonies were amazing!!!

So I'm gathering that it's about a 2-year wait. I can tell you that I am not going to wait that long. Provided we sell our house this spring, I'll be using the profit to have it done in Toronto. I had a phone consulation with Niki from Slimband. It's $16000, or $3000 down and payments of $350 a month for 4 years. The doctor there has done more lap band procedures than all docs combined in Canada. The saline fills can be done by your family doctor, if they are willing, or by other local doctors. My family doctor mentioned someone in F'ton and Slimband said they had someone in Sackville who does the fill. So, you only have to go to Toronto for the procedure. They also have a big support team that you have access to for life.

I had a referral to Dr. Savoie in December 2008 and am still waiting for my first consultation appointment. When I talked to his receptionist in the first of January she said it would probably be in April before I got an appointment. It was a bit discouraging but I'm going to the gym and watching what I eat. Trying to change my lifestyle now instead of later. I'm very anxious to see what he has to say! Does any one have a current wait time for surgeries with him?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
