How much do you think I can lose????

Recommended Posts

Hi all, thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully provide some advice/insight. I know that every person is different, but generally, here's the situation. We just booked a vacation to Disney for Christmas week and I am so excited about it. At the same time though, I now weigh approximately 249 (although I've been on my Protein Shake diet for two days now). I am afraid that I won't be able to comfortably fit on the rides. (At 200 lbs four years ago, it was becoming a tight squeeze.) I was hoping to lose as much as 35-40 pound before December 22nd. I am aiming at November 7th for lap band, pending the surgeon's receipt of the approval which is apparently on its way. With applied effort, what do you guys think? Could that be a realistic goal??

Hi Kathi,

Anything is possible but don't be disappointed if you don't loose quite that much. Some people loose right away and others don't loose much at all till they have a couple of fills. The important thing is that you know you are moving in the right direction and you feel good about yourself. You will look good this year but it ain't nothin' compared to how you will look next year! Good luck on your journey.

Sally

Everything will work out, you just keep on doing what your doing. I went a couple of years ago and I am 300+ and I rode everything, including space mountain. It was a wonderful time, and talk about getting your exercise in. Have Fun and Good Luck

I think that it would be difficult to expect to lose that much weight during that time. You are setting a goal to lose 4.5-5 pounds a week until December 22nd and that does not seem realistic or healthy. And if you can lose that fast, besides being unhealthy it would be difficult for your skin to keep up and you could end up looking like a deflated balloon

As I know you realize, you can't guage your weight loss by anothers. But I weighed 234 at the start of my journey so we were within 15 pounds of one another. I lost 13 pounds during my two week pre-op diet then averaged 2 pounds a week after that hitting some plateaus along the way. I would say that I have been fairly aggressive with my weight loss. I have had four fills and push for my doc to keep me well restricted and I have stuck to my eating plan almost perfectly. I have also done my daily exercise. So, I just looked back through my entries in the "Hallow-Lean challange" and I see that I hit the 40 pound mark (including pre-op weight loss) on August 30th. That would have been 13 weeks post-op/15 weeks counting the pre-op stage. Your goal is to do the same in only 8 weeks.

Don't set your goals too high. Plan your vacation knowing that this will be the last one where you have to worry about such things and just have a great time.

Kathi.. I go to disney all the time and have never had a problem fitting on ANY ride there.. The only ride that was tight was space moutain and well honestly it is not my favorite ride anyways it gives me a headache. ha ha.. My family and I are Annual pass holders their because it is nice to go walk around and ride the rides.. I don't ever go to Busch Gardens because they are not fat friendly ha ha and Neither is universal, but ANYWAYs i will get off that tangent.. You should be absolutely fine and just enjoy your vacation...best wishes

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
