Any December '08 Bandsters?

I know it seems like December is a ways off but really it's just less then two months away. I finalized my surgery date yesterday for Dec. 5th with Dr. Kuri. So are there any others out there with December dates looking for support and help?

Well guys,

I have my band put in yesterday. I feel pretty good. Some discomfort but not much pain. I have been able to keep down all of my fluids. I have such a great doctor (Dr. Eldridge). Everyone at the hopsital was wonderful (St Anthonys).

I would love to make some friends here to help with the support part of this process. Its still going to be a lot of work but with my great family and the new family I make amoung here I will be just fine. Will keep u posted.:)

It doesn't hurt that bad. The worst for me was getting the IV! But if you get up and move around it doesn't hurt that bad at all. I promise its worth it.

Hey Karen;

Sounds like you are off to a great start! I had my surgery on the second and went back to work yesterday and worked a full day again today as well. I'm a bit tired and have difficulty sitting at my desk for long periods, but with a few walks through the office, I managed to be fairly energetic the rest of the time. (I do catch myself scratching my belly...those steri-strips still haven't come off and they itch!)

Wish you the best!

Susan

I am going to be banded on Dec 16th. I am so excited, its finally here.

Hi Mair,

I'm also the 16th can can hardly wait! It's so exciting and just around the corner. I'm one of the fortunate ones in that I only have a 2 day liquid diet. How about you? I'm in CA, how about you?

Glad all is going well with you. I'll keep prayin for you. I am having surgery in a few hours. It is encouraging to read thru all the posts. We are all in this together. right? I guess it's like childbirth, you have to experience it to understand it. May you continue to do well!

I got my date last week - December 17th! I can't wait. I got all of my pre-admission testing done today along with the pre-op classes. I meet with the doctor on 16th. I know it's going to be work, but I know it will be worth it. I love reading the posts - they are all positive and it's great to see how well everyone is doing.

Candy3223- We have the same date!! Best of luck to you. I am NERVOUS!!!! Uggghhh. I just want it to be the 17th already!!! I'm going to have mine done in San Jose. Let me know how it goes! :tt1:

I am in New Jersey and I started this journey in March, I had to do the 6 month nutritionist and then I got denied, we appealed it and the insurance company finally approved it. I only have to do one day liquid diet. I am looking so forward to tuesday. Finally.

Hi Everyone!!!

I was banded on 12/4/08 and I have to say the team at True Results were awesome!!! I'm in Houston and it went really well. Thank God and for your prayers. After the procedure was done I was sleepy all day. They don't recommend sleeping more than an hour and that's because they don't want the gas to build up. There is a slight discomfort but each day it gets less. My first night after the procedure was a little difficult only because I really couldn't sleep well. I was up every hour walking around but after that each night I've been able to sleep more. I've really not had much of an appetite at all. I've been drinking one Slim Fast Low Carb, hot tea and broth initially. I've added lime aid and coffee today. Broth is not very tasty but my mom was sweet enough to make some homemade broth and that was a lot better. I've also bought cans of soup and I'm just going to drink the liquid. The only thing I haven't been good at is drinking the water for some reason. I'm really going to work on that more. Before the procedure I was drinking close to a gallon. All in all everything is going well. I think I only had a little naseau for maybe a couple of minutes on day 2, nothing since then. I'm glad I took a week off from work though. I think it's been good for me. I'm bored but that's OK.

I'm excited for all the upcoming banders. I know you will do well. Just remember to have your supplies ahead of time and to get up and walk around your house if you feel the gas pains coming. Walking really does work.

Looking forward to getting smaller with all of you! :(

One more thing.....

My surgical nurse also had the procedure and she LOVED IT. She told me it was the best thing she'd done for herself.

My surgery is Dec 15th (posted about it in the Dec 08 bandsters forum). I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet. I'm not really hungry but just craving variety.

Today I had a Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with a scoop of protein powder for breakfast. A bowl of oatmeal made with extra water, a fat free dannon yogurt smoothie and about 6 cups of crystal light. For dinner I plan on eating a bowl of tomato soup and maybe some sugar free pudding. Yummy! LOL

By the way, I started a new blog today to track my lap band journey. I plan on journaling each day, if time permits. Start Enjoying Life

Hello I am getting banded on Dec 17th. I have been very excited up to this point. Now--the closer it gets the more concerned I am becoming about my willpower, being hungry, etc. I am especially worried about this pre-surgery liquid diet.

I hope to stick to it and not see my family as good menu choices (haha-joking)

:(

Hi all,

I'm being banded this Friday morning. I am nervous to say the least. I've lost 12 pounds on preop so far. I hope all you do well. Good Luck.

Sounds almost like my story. I started around this past January. Did the 6 month supervised diet thing, saw the Dr. every month and still got denied. Ends up I forgot to submit the Sleep Study for my sleep apnea. As soon as I did that I was approved. My surgery is coming up on Monday. Having a rough time with this clear liquid diet, but I am committed. Good Luck to all.

I'm having surgery on dec 23rd too, we have our own thread started for dec 23rd bandsters too if you want to join us!! best of luck on our band day!! nicci
