hey...how bad are peanuts? I know i am on the liquid diet, but i find if i have 13 peanuts (so 26 individual) i do not crave anything at all. I figure that it is better than many other alternatives. They did say i could have a fat free yogurt if i wanted...i am sure peanuts are not the greatest, although it is high in Protein which is helpful. Right now i estimated that i have 39g protein from shakes, the yogurt is 9g. Adding the peanuts (the past 2 days) has helped greatly with keeping me satieated. any suggestions? I could eliminate them completely and will...just it is sooo hard when others are eating.

The liquid diet isn't about calories, it's about allowing your stomach to heal. It's only a short period of time - you can hold out! And then you can have peanuts.

For now, if you crave peanuts, maybe you could mix some Peanut Butter into a Protein shake or something.

Best,

Susan

Peanuts are also extremely high in FAT and Sodium.

Do NOT do anything to jeopardize your surgery since you are pre-op. Besides you will be on liquids post-op as well I am assuming.

Oh - you're pre-op, I assumed you were on post-op liquids.< /p>

In that case I'd say go for whatever works for you as long as you stay within your calorie requirements.

Good luck!

Susan

All I can suggest is following your diet plan. If peanuts are on your plan, that is fine although I suspect they are not. Peanuts can be high in calories, but the real point of this is to follow the plan. Don't start cheating before you even begin.

You deserve to make a real go of this for your own health. Don't start making excuses this early on if you want to be successful. A peanut here or there may not make a big inpact . . . but it could be the start of allowing other "off plan" items to creap in.

I would cut out the peanuts till AFTER your liquid period is over..just in case. However, afterwards, I find that nuts are one of the few things that I never barf up (yes, some things I DO throw up..especially bread, potatoes..basically anything white doesn't agree with me). But, for now..you are healing and if you can't stop eating peanuts NOW when you aren't supposed to eat them then you might not be able to stop later and by that I mean, you may not be able to control your quantity.

But, heal...you need to heal. There is plenty of time later!!! And, good luck to you, you made such a good decision!!:tt2:

Whoa, I didn't know you were on the pre-op either. STOP THE PEANUTS. If you can't stay on the liquid diet now, then how do you know you are going to be able to control yourself afterwards. You need to make sure you don't have a fatty liver for the surgery and peanuts are fatty. My advise..STOP NOW.

STOP THE PEANUTS. And, don't use the dinner as an excuse to eat. Bottom line, you are in 2 weeks of liquids, that is it. You are to be on liquids..ONLY. You have to get all of this under control or you will not be successful. Your dad will understand, or take an Optifast with you and just enjoy his company. But, if you don't want to get to the surgery and wake up and find out they didn't do it, then you'd better stick with that liquid diet. Now is when you learn to stick with it. NO excuses. Good luck, it really is a wonderful thing you are doing, but you have to tell yourself that you are committed to this. Peanuts and going out to eat, etc..that's not really committed is it? Two weeks is not much, you can do it!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
