Question about PillS

Recommended Posts

I'm not 100% sure if ALL pills must be chew-able but I do know that when I asked my doc about Advil he told me to get children's liquid. It is in berry flavor and isn't too bad. Someone on this site told me there is an adult Tylenol liquid but Advil works better for me. I currently take a couple of Rx pills everyday but I split them before hand. I asked my pharmacist if they all were splittable and she said mine were. I am going to take my pills with me next doc appointment just to double check I'm not doing anything wrong.

What I was told is that I can't take extended release pills. I take prescription pills every morning - one a little pill and one normal size capsule. Also no ibruprofen. They also said I was okay to take Tylenol caplets.

I use the adult liquid Tylenol...it doesn't taste too bad, I usually find it at walgreen's. I do take a chewable Multi-Vitamin and my Rx's I used to crush and take w/applesauce, then found that I didn't have any trouble when splitting them, but now I just take them whole, but they are small tablets anyway, about a half or third the size of an aspirin. However, I'm not a place where I have restriction either. I'm hoping to get there with my next fill next week. Hopefully when that happens I can still take my meds whole or split them since crushing is sort of a hassle...but the liquid Tylenol is not bad at all.

I take pills no problem. Now I have to take them 1 at a time with a minute or so rest in between so that I dont develop a problem. But I take several Vitamins and stuff for allergies. My doc said that pills generally will pass thru no problem just dont take a handful at once..lol

I have recently started taking an antibiotic for strep throat and it is a horse pill...I cut it in half. I havent even tried to take it whole...no sense in making myself throw up and have that awful medicine taste...that would be REALLY bad.

Do all pills have to be cheawable? What if I need to take a asprin, the only chewable I found are childrens. How many children equivalant to adult dose??

Wow, posts like these scare me. Bariatric patients should not take any children Vitamins as they are not made for us and have you seen the sugar content on those things. There are companies out there that make them specifically for the bariatric comunity.

www.bariatricadvantage.com go to that site and do your reaserch they also sell some Vitamins to, if taste is a factor I know most companies including this give out free samples good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
