Salads? To eat or not to eat?

Recommended Posts

I read the "What did you eat today" posts every day and I've learned so much from those who post there. So first off, a hearty THANK YOU to all who are faithful in posting there.

The one thing I've noticed is that I don't see many posting about salads. I eat a salad every day and my weight has really slowed. I LOVE LOVE LOVE salads. I realize that lettuce can't be fattening, however there are fat bunnies, so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I limit my dressing and I load the salad with goodies - almonds, raisins, low fat shredded cheese and tomatoes. Just curious to know if keeping off the salads for awhile might be a good idea for me.

Do you avoid salads or eat them sparingly?

i don't get "full" on a salad - typically it's my "veggie" in a meal, not the meal itself. when my meal IS a salad i make sure there is some chicken/chick peas - other Protein involved or a taco salad, otherwise - i'm looking for a snack when i really don't need one.

i sorta treat salads as Soup - LOVE them, but i realize they might not sustain me like other meals..

I have discovered a great salad: salad greens, grilled chicken, toasted walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, strawberries, and balsamic vinegar dressing. YUMMY!!! (I had this salad at Mimi's cafe, so can't take credit for creation, but definitely making it at home)

I have perfect restriction, so can only eat 4-5 bites before I'm full, so I graze on the salad from lunch to about 3'ish.

Love salads, but with restriction, not able to eat much. :girl_hug:

I eat salad almost daily.

We have a turkish version of salad. It is finely chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and a very small amount of romaine and parsley chopped finely. This is topped by 1/2 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon and salt sprinkled on top.

This is my all time favorite salad and band friendly in that there is no sugar or fat other than a small amount of olive oil on a large salad which we split three ways.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
