Protein Drink Suggestions

I have been drinking the Advanced 24/7 brand Power Maxx Protein in the chocolate flavor. I really like it, doesn't leave a weird after taste or anything and you can mix it with skim milk, Water, yogurt, or juice. I got it from GNC, think that it also comes in vanilla, will try that next and see how it is. The guy at my local GNC says that everything there is guaranteed, so if you get something and do not like it, you can take the unused portion back and get something else or get your money back so you aren't stuck with a lot of things that you can't drink. I also like the low carb slim fast, I have been drinking them some also. Hope this helps. 10 more days til my surgery!! YAY :bolt:

OK--I tried the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup and had no issues with it. It tastes like chicken broth you would get in a packet. The only thing that was a tad annoying was that it cannot be mixed with Water that is over 130 degrees so I had to use a thermometer and wait for it to cool down a bit! I didn't notice any adverse smells.

90 calories/21g Protein

Hope this helps!

I have tried a couple of different kinds. My doctor requires a low carb shake. Make sure you find out what your doctor wants you to drink; I got conflicting reports from the nutritionist and screwed up last week (too many carbs). Good thing I started a week early!

ThE LOSERS:

EAS Carb solutions Choc Fudge: takes like choc Water, very sweet

Muscle Milk carb conscious banana, Choc Mint: horrible after taste, enough to make me nauseous

THE WINNERS:

Atkins Advantage Milk chocolate and Strawberry- even better blended

Isopure zero carb glass- looks like juice, apple melon was very good

I'm a huge fan of muscle milk. One carton has 34g of Protein and they're low carb. They also taste fantastic. They're hellishly expensive (about 3.50 each) but when you can have that much protein and low sugar and feel like you're cheating, it's worth it.

Thanks!!! Glad I woke up and have my band!!!!

I'm 4 days postop, can I start drinking the Protein supplements or am I supposed to wait on those? Probably dumb question, but I'm still kind of in a fog. Thanks! Ambra

Good to hear from you! I think the more Protein the earlier the better! (helps with healing) What kind of diet does your doctor have you on?

~~anne

days 3-14 I'm on a full liquid diet. so I guess I can drink the Protein shakes/supplements etc. might help with my lack of energy. going to try that today. I'm on day 5 of this post op ride and last night i took pain meds before going to sleep and didn't take anything else until 0745 this morning. Trying to get by with liquid tylenol today. I did that a couple days ago but was pretty uncomfortable. We'll see how today goes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
