Hooray, bandsters my age! Any DFW Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

I live in Dallas/Fort Worth and am 25 years old - I was starting to think I am the only under 35 Lapband patient!! I am dying to meet new friends who I can share and talk to. I am single, and most of my friends are in relationships. Since no one completely understands my surgery and situation it would be great to meet some younger bandsters...most of the ladies in my support group are 40+ and/or married with kids. Anyway, would love to hear from anyone in their 20's who's been banded!

Banded October 17, 2007

250/179/150 (Starting, present, goal weight)

Thanks! :)

Wow that's amazing, has it been a lot of work for you as far as watching your diet and exercising a lot? I am actually up in Denver, but glad now I know what DFW stands for! :tongue2:

It has taken a lot of work! But worth it. At least this way I am working hard and seeing results. Exercise is huge - also, don't forget to take your measurements - when you hit a plateau (which you will) don't forget to check your measurements - majority of the time you are still losing inches. I have kept track of mine and it is neat to see how far I've come! Best of luck to you!

hey! I was born and raised in dallas-- went to high school in plano. I get banded next month, but that will happen where I live now, which is columbia MO (where I go to college). I go back to plano over breaks though.

congrats on all of your success! we have pretty much the same starting and goal weight!

Hi! I'm Claire, 23, and I'm over in Lubbock. I'm trying to find some Texas band buddies as well since I haven't come across anyone from Lubbock. I'm finishing my 3rd and final pre-surgery diet program month! Then I get to play the insurance approval waiting game. Ugh!

Oh...and after last night's big win...WRECK 'EM TECH!! :cool2:

What there are more of us on here??? I was banded 12/08 and I still have the soreness and bruises to prove it. So I am 27 and live in the park cities. ( I like saying that better than actually saying I live in dallas) SO yeah I actually live on the edge in dallas. I didnt think anyone my age actually got banded till I came here. SO band buddies would be great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
