Good morning everybody! I went to the Y this morning. I ran for 20 minutes (5 min intervals) and walked for 10 (in between). Also did the eliptical (15 min) and bicycle (15 min). The rower was taken, but I'm going tonight to the aerobics class (i.e. torture lady) and will prob. row for my warm up. I'm getting my coffee in and feel great!

Hey Leslie, keep up the good work. Two a days are hard, but worth the effort.

Last night, went back in and ran 15 min/1.56 miles on treadmill followed by 25 minutes on elliptical.

This morning, legs strength training. Tried to max out on squats. Was able to do 375 x 2 reps. Failed on 405 x 1:cursing::wink2::cursing::wub:. Went down slow and easy, started to push up and legs just gave out. DAMMIT!!!!!!!! Oh well, I managed just over 150% of my BW twice. Considering I haven't tried to max out on squats since I weighed about 350 lbs over 4 yrs ago, I'll take it.:tongue2:

Followed up that with other leg work followed by 25 minutes on elliptical. I'll go back in tonight for about 40 more minutes of cardio.

Have a great weekend everyone.

GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!

Ceradad - you are an absolute certified bada**! That's a pretty good squat, considering the time between max attempts...Congrats!

Leslie - sounds like you are a cross-trainer...the variety is great for keeping you from getting bored, I'll bet.

Walked with the DDog this morning through the torrential rains in CT - not fun, but it puts a little extra pep in your step when you have to jump over random puddles! :tongue2:

That means no walk at lunchtime, so I'll throw some aerobics into my workout this evening. Last night would have been an upper body day primarily, but DH had to work, so I had to go to Parent's Night at school instead of him...I hate missing workouts, but DD is very important, so I went with a smile. :wink2:

This past weekend I did laundry - ALL weekend - I let it pile up until I'm out of unmentionables - I can't go commando - sorry. So plenty of bending, lifting and arm work (I do it standing up). I also took the kids to the mall and walked.

Today - I went to the gym again this morning. I walked with my workout partner (yea - we're back). I'm going to go back when I get off tonight and do Zumba Class. Eldest DD wants to do it too. It is "family Zumba" tonight.

Hi, all...I admit, I've been somewhat slacking over the weekend. Sat, ran/walked for 30 minutes, then did floor stretches for another 20. It just felt good to stretch!

I remember reading somewhere that if people stood up and stretched the way animals did each time they got up, then we'd be much better off. I've been watching my dogs and they do stand up and stretch the back legs, and their back frequently.

And, sorry Cowboy fans - I had to root for my home team, the Skins, yesterday.

Last Friday during work, I started feeling really run down. Kept getting worse as the day wore on. No added cardio Friday night.

Saturday, I did nothing except sit around the house with DD until DW came home and then did nothing with her as well. Gotta have one of those days once in awhile.

Yesterday, up before church and did 70 minutes on the elliptical. This week is my non lifting week. So, working the early day shift today, will go into the gym after work and do about 65 minutes of cardio. Hopefully, I can mow the backyard after that.

Last night - normal walk/run regime on treadmill for 30 minutes total. I've mostly abandoned the c25k instructions and just gone with advice I read on a running thread. It said, walk until you're bored, run until you're tired. I do that, and I run longer than I ever thought I would. I can run for five minutes and not die. Who knew?

This morning, I wanted to wake up early and do more. I ended up hitting snooze twice, but did get on the treadmill for 1/2 mile run in about 8 minutes. Not too bad for being 1/2 asleep.

Now I'm at work, sipping my coffee and I feel GREAT!

(Thanks for this thread! It keeps me going when I really don't want to.)

Yea Glouchester! I'm following the same running program as you...LOL

Last night I went to Zumba class...it thoroughly gave me a good butt whippin'...OMG I thought I was going to die! That little girl teaching that class could MOVE...this white girl cannot nor could I ever dance (no rythym), but I tried. I will get better (there's nowhere to go but up). I have 20/20/20 class tonight (mainly a toning/shaping class). My run is tomorrow. Hope ya'll all are having a great Tuesday. I'm ready for Wednesday already.

Good morning Warriors,

Rained out this weekend - that blasted storm kept me indoors all weekend long except for a couple of wet bathroom walks with the dog...he doesn't mind the rain, but I DO!

Ran the stairs in my house, though - cleaning and moving things from one floor to the other. Must have done something, because my thighs were talkin' to me on Sunday morning!

Funeral yesterday for a dear friend of the family - sad day...walked with the dog in the morning, but nothing else all day.

Back on the stick this morning - early walk with the dog, DH and DD. Got a pretty good pace going - think I'll try to work on getting my time down more in the next two weeks. I'm on the hunt for some "walking" boots that will help me make it through the winter. I don't want to give up my lunchtime and afternoon walks when the snow flies, but they've gotta be stylish enough to wear for my commute to work.

It's vain, I know, but I don't want to look like I'm going snowmobiling every day when I leave the house :dita:

Ebony - I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Hope the thighs heal good and quickly...my inner thighs are killing me - I think it's all that jumping twisting and kicking...I will have abs of steel, Buns of steel and whatever else that is jiggling now will be steel!

Hey Leslie,

Thanks for the good wishes...I needed that this morning!

I'm with you - whatever I can turn into "of steel" I'm ready! Arms of steel, Buns of steel, thighs of steel, abs of steel, etc, etc...I want my physique to be so hard you can bounce quarters of my butt or my abs, and they set of metal detectors at the airport!:cursing:

Imagine trying to explain that one: "Well, officer, it's my Buns of Steel video...I did the workout so many times that my buns are actually made of steel now, so that's why the detector went off...":lol::crying::lol:

LOL - Ebony I'm with you. They will want to strip search me to check out the steel buns...right now I'd be passed along - saying, that woman must have a steel plate in her head - running in fear at the thought of seeing me naked! LOL

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
