BikiniBeachy - hope you're feeling better this morning. One day at a time even those of us not having a great time of it will get through. It's all the little goals at this point - today I stood up straight without my back hurting as badly and did 10 minutes of yoga stretching. That already makes it better than yesterday. Hang in there.

"Oh my GOD, what did I just do to myself?"

sounds normal to me! I had terrible, debilitating pain prior to a back surgery and had the same reaction right after the surgery! Of course, the end result is that I only rarely have back pain now and probably not more than an "average" person who screws up and overdoes occasionally...but still! I can't imagine we won't ALL say that post-op. The thing is: short term pain for long term gain. Cliche but the truth. We all want to live longer and have a higher quality of life!!!!

Question for those who have been on the pre-op diet: is it okay to use SF Creamer in coffee and what about COOKED veggies? My pre-op diet info says raw vegetables.

Thanks!

OMG!!! I had to take neomycin today as part of my preop! I became soooo nauseated, I had to stop on my way to work to vomit.:smile2::Banane27::laugh:

But, I feel a little better now, I have been sipping on gatorade today, tomorrow is around the corner!!!:Banane53:

Congrats on your surgery date! Mine is Oct 22 also. My real b-day is Oct 23 so I thought it was kind of symbolic:smile: Have you started your pre-op diet?

Anne - with my pre-op diet it was fat content as well as sugar content. I would probably avoid the creamer. I was allowed cooked veggies, but fewer of them than raw (1 cup raw = 1 serving, 1/2 cup cooked = 1 serving)

Good luck to everyone the next few days!

I seem to have finally turned a corner - still not feeling wonderful but a definite upswing at last.

Hello,

I was able to have SF creamer in my coffee all the way up to the day before surgery. On the day before surgery... it was all CLEAR LIQUIDS!

Well, I'm banded!! Didn't have a good day yesturday but I sort of expected that. I have a great deal of trouble sleeping because I sleep on my stomach. The gas is non-existent and my throat is much better.

I'm glad the surgery is over. Now I follow the food plan, keep a journal, try to find an unflavored Protein Powder, and start some type of exercise program.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
