Hi guys! Just checking in!!

Sickn--- the ONLY time I like Isopure was in the hospital because I was SO HUNGRY. It isn't awful, but I'm returning many bottle (the nurse at the hospital HOOKED me up! And postop you can barely get through 1 bottle - 1 oz every 15 minutes makes it like 1 bottle a day at best) You can see chunk of Protein floating around, it's really funny. Anyway, I am grateful for Isopure...no sugar..no aspartame...no carbs! A MUST early on...

Ara....when you can get to full liquids, please let me make a suggestion. I am going back and getting more for fill days because it was honestly delicious and low carb...It comes in Neopolitan packs too!

It's called Lean Body and the big packs come at Vitamin Shoppe and my GCN carried the vanilla.< /p>

How is everyone doing? Bless your hearts for everything, and I hope tomorrow goes well for everyone and everybody else is healing well. I am 9 days post op and feeling OK, just a little grumpy since the Percocet ran out (Scary pills, WAY too easy to develop a taste for them...) But still in some pain.

I am also having trouble eating. I have been just not eating very much because it's easier than having to deal with this new puree stage. No food sounds good at ALL to me. Here is a post I put on the General Thread and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas, thanks!

Hi guys! Moving on from a 2-3 day soft food diet to pureed tomorrow. The Dr wants me to be eating a lot of meat now. The book says I should ONLY worry about protein right now, as I don't have room for fruit and veggies, yet.

Here's whats on my surgeon's specific list -

Leab animal and dairy protein

Mozarella cheese, Lean Pork (sirloins or roasts preferred), Fish, Shellfish, tuna, Light or Dark Meat Poultry....(beef is on there but I left it out since I don't eat it).

Anyway, this list sounds GREAT. But Pureed?! I am so sorry if I sound like a baby, but isn't that a liquid almost? I just can't imagine getting some tuna or shrimp and blending it until it's liquid and drinking it without gagging.

Any tips guys? Did any of you have this problem? Is it not as liquidy as I am thinking? Do you get used to it?

I am so grateful for your guys, I am truly blessed to have this place to come and ask questions from other bandsters that are kind and fair and know what I've gone through!! Thank you

I call them Protein bullets. They come in a container that looks like a huge test tube. The correct name is New Whey Bullets. There are two kinds, 1 with 42 grams of protein and one with 27 grams. I get the one with 42. The one with 27 grams is a little cheaper. I got some at HEB grocery, but I don't know if you have HEB's up where you live. I also just bought some at GNC. They come in 3 different flavors, grape, orange, and fruit punch. My favorite is fruint punch, grape is good and orange is not bad. They range in price. HEB had them for $2.99, GNC was $3.49 but I just ordered some online from www.allstarhealth.com. That comes out to about $2.41. And the shipping was only $5.95. I ordered some other stuff too so I didn't think that was bad for shipping.

There is another website that has all kinds of protein products. My surgeon and nutritionist recommened BariatricEating.com - BE, Inc. The number one bariatric website for protein, Vitamins, and success. and www.ProteinFirst.com. It think they are owned by the same company, but I prefered www.bariatricEating.com.

But you can shop around on the web like I did. Let me know if you find a more reasonable price somewhere for the bullets.

Well, it's time for a Protein Shake.< /p>

Good luck

Lone Star Loser

Thanks for the links! I drink advantEDGE carb control now. That would be a full liquid, but I really like the chocolate. I am going to start looking for other choices. They are about $1.25 a drink at Walmart. Maybe I can find them cheaper somewhere else.

I agree. I am not real up on eating pureed tuna...lol

Anyway, I have a friend who recommended adding baby food meat to your broth. Sounded gross to me, but I guess I could handle some beef in like onion soup... maybe? She said it was a life safer.

try ham or chicken salads...both of those taste ok if you pulse them (ham more so than chicken) I use a small bit of mayo and a bit of softened cream cheese no other seasoning because right now acid reflux is kickin my arse.

refried Beans or bean and bacon Soup seems to do well with me and doesn't matter that it's smooth and a very good source of Protein. Also scrambled eggs with the ham after it's been ground are good, I use the high protein 2%. Also if you have twice baked potatoes the ham or chicken goes well on those. I'll put a small bit of string cheese on top and melt it.

Thanks for the info on Protein Drinks, I agree about the Isopure I think the only way I can use the million bottles I have is to make it into Jello. Trying to find the slip so DH can take them back to HEB as I'm just not going to use it.

Drats forgot to say I use Canadian Bacon for the ham because it's leaner...sorry just woke up and haven't had my first bottle of...water yumm yummm

Just got back from GNC and I'm in love with whomever mentioned the Protein Bullets! Taste isn't whoo hooo but it's tolarable but Ohh my stars 42g protein in 3.1oz! I can take it in two parts and it's only about 3 swallows at a time! *does a happy snoopy dance* This will make travel so much easier as they are small enough to put an entire week or so worth in a bag and not take up tons of space, doesn't need a fridge and no mixing. I got a blue raz, fruit punch and grape.

Well, so much for my great plan to not tell everyone at work about my surgery. My first day back and I find out it's all over the building.

I told 3 people: the big boss, a friend, and my assistant. I am really disappointed.

Oh Karen, I'm really sorry. There's no telling if my group can keep their mouths shut. Here's hoping....

Can I ask why you didn't want anyone to know?

I'm a pretty private person - I don't share a whole lot that goes on outside of work with my co-workers.

I also know my own history with weight loss - if my weight loss becomes the center of attention and people remark upon it I will sabotage myself to get out of that attention.

I really don't want that to happen this time. I am honestly sitting in my office on the verge of tears - or maybe screaming in anger.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
